Huge portions, yummy food, usually quick food as well, great coffee, and you have to try their banana smoothie - best I've had in Sydney! But the wait staff on the whole have no hospitality skills, hard to get a smile out of most of them. One or two are really good but on the whole the 'service' is missing.

It seems that when the bloke who owns or runs this place is not there, service is absent also. They saw me come in and sit at a table inside. I waited, waited, waited while staff stood around behind the counter eating, laughing and chatting. After 10 minutes and still no menu, I left and was warmly greeted at a cafe two doors down.
Previous review feb/2011: Can be a little hit and miss. I've eaten tasty meals here while on other occasions not so good. Coffees are generally good and service friendly.

Food is not bad, but have not really had a great experience here. The staff are terrible and more interested in sitting chatting to friends then serving customers. Got my meal 10mins after my friend and my drink never arrived. Food is good but not the best on Coogee Bay Rd. This place is cash only which is a pain. I don't eat here.

My husband and I went for brekky on a Sunday and were very impressed. In the main cafe strip in Coogee, The Globe is easily the busiest. On a hot day, would suggest sitting outside (shaded) for the breeze, as indoors there are only ceiling fans, but the table configuration and noise levels were good.
We ordered a Works and a Haloumi. They were both delicious and very large portions. We ordered the bacon crispy and they listened! The scrambled eggs were a good consistency, other eggs poached perfectly, great roasted potato, hit-the-spot roasted roma tomatoes. Only downside to the Works was the plain white toast (maybe could request something else instead) and, for me, champignon mushrooms, which I don't like.
The service was great, no attitude, timely, friendly. Recommend going on a Saturday if you're on a budget, as Sunday incurs a surcharge, however, still well priced for what you get. Overall, we were very impressed and will definitely be back. Thanks!

The Globe definitely serves the best coffee in Coogee and I should know because I've tried them all! I am a Globe regular and I love everything about it. The food, the coffee, the welcome and the staff, it's all fantastic and well worth a visit. There is a warm and welcoming feel about the place and my only complaint, which I am sure that the owners wouldn't agree with, is that it's just too busy on weekends but that's me being selfish. It's a top spot!

Love the food here. Service is standard cafe style. The wraps, caesar salad and the "Love Eggs" breaky are favourites. Try their chocolate brownies for sale on the counter - Yum!

I have been here several times and always leave satisfied and fulfilled! The cafe has a relaxed feel and the staff are easy going and approachable. The haloumi stack is delicious every time and the banana smoothie is the best I have ever had! The muesli with rhubarb is also a delicious breakfast if you can't quite handle the big serves of the other breakfasts! All in all a great cafe, with fantastic food that is good value. Will keep coming back!

I think that food-wise, this may be the best cafe in Coogee (I would like to call it the best, but I just haven't been everywhere yet). I've been here several times for breakfast and every menu item I've tried has always been delicious. Sitting on the outside tables on the weekend is great for people watching and soaking in the rays while you tuck into your beautifully arranged breakfast dish.
But that's where the the nice things about this cafe stop. As I said before, I've been to Globe several times (especially while I was living in Randwick) and every single time, without fail, the service was the worst I have ever seen. Waiters and waitresses are usually more concerned about chatting to their friends then wondering if you'd like to order or if you have a special request for your order.
It's really a shame because I would've liked to nominate this place for one of the best eateries in Sydney if only it wasn't so infuriating to eat there.

I used to come more often before the tourist waitresses took over. Service is still ok but the pricing might vary from waitress to waitress and it gets confusing abit to say the least. The Primo coffee on offer is good and delivers a nice hit.

My Nov 08 review, the juries still out on whether the coffees so great, as others have stated. Its good, but 'great' depends on who's making it. The service is pretty good most of the time. The food, however, is sensational and worth waiting for. Hands down the best cafe in Coogee. Their staff stick around which must be a good sign. Spinach special or chefs breakfast, highly recommended.
My Jan 2010 review, I reviewed Globe in Nov 08 just before they sold. Initially, after the sale, the majority of reviews were correct, it wasn't anywhere near as good as it used to be. We had a couple of disasters to be honest.
We continued going occasionally (as there just isn't many other good options in Coogee), and we increased our patronage over the last few months because we started to notice quite an improvement. Both from the kitchen side of things and particularly the service.
The menus were fixed (see review further down), and the slack staff another reviewer referred to seem to have moved on. We will continue to be regulars there if they keep it up.
