I have been in Thai Splendid a few times, the staff is very kind and friendly, the food is very nice. The best is sizzling seafood but they had changed a little bit of this dish so it look smaller but the test still nice so its ok. I like my sizzling.
Honestly, what you served is just close to the authentic Thai food. Anyway my family have tried quite a few Thai restaurants around here, we all agreed that yours is the best. Pad thai is my wife favourite, chicken green curry is mine, spring rolls and satay are my children's. We promise we'll be back very soon.
The Worst Pad Thai I've ever had. Simple dish, quite hard to stuff up. I counted 3 small shreds of chicken in my meal in total. I ate about 4 mouthfuls and that was all I could handle. Service is poor, the decor is average. Won't ever be back!
Pretty average restaurant. Food is OK but nothing to rave about. We've found that it takes a while for the mains to come out, so be prepared to wait. I tried the marinated BBQ beef to see what all the fuss was about, and it was one of the most shocking pieces of meat I've had in a long time. No flavour whatsoever, so not sure what they actually marinate it in?
Also, our waiter was pretty hopeless - slapped the dishes down on our table and that was the last we saw of him all night. My advice is to try the noodle place nearby instead.
Dined there for the first time last night....can't express how happy I' am with the food. I had spicy noodles with seafood and found portion was quiet large, my husband ordered the marinated BBQ and it was not what he expected, but that was his fault as should have read menu more carefully (nothing wrong with dish though) so we had yummy fried rice ordered and ready within three minutes, very attentive.
We had the window view (nice as I like people watching) and found staff rather sweet and attentive...being a Thursday night at Mac Square is always so busy and I think they handled themselves quite well.
I work in one of restaurants and feel that most of them are all rather small inside but due to customer demand to dine and high turn over of clientelel we must use the space to its fullest capacity so we don't keep customers waiting for long periods of time, and would take a soft cushy chair any day over a hard bench seat. Oh and all of the resturants at Mac Square are non air conditioned (shrugs shoulders) and opened doors so you will see a fly or two and you will feel the fresh air be it hot or cold.
I visited this restaurant soon after they first opened and was very impressed. However my last few recent visits have not been anywhere near as good, so I thought un-updated review was called for.
The service and food seems to be slipping downhill. Recent example 1: we ordered take-away and got home to find a long, black hair in the middle of our satay chicken dish. Understandably, we lost our appetite instantly.
Recent example 2: We dined in and waited about 30 minutes for our entree, even though we'd only ordered one thing, and there were only one or two other tables being occupied. It wasn't worth the wait though - the meat in the dim sims was full of grisle which we had to keep pulling out of our mouths. The mains also took ages to be brought out and we noticed that the serving sizes have definitely gotten smaller. We had decided to try the BBQ marinated ' tasty and tender' beef and totally regretted it. It was horribly dry and practically tasteless, and not tender at all.
Another thing is that they have replaced most of the bench-style seating with big, clunky high-backed chairs which make the restaurant very cramped, especially as they have packed as many tables in there as they can fit.
Two other points while I'm at it: 1) the annoying and ridiculous background music - Mariah Carey and Celine Dion do NOT do any favours to the place, and 2) nor does the lack of air-conditioning and flies constantly buzzing around our plates. So I just thought I would share my updated views, we used to be regular customers but have decided to go elsewhere next time.
This place has really good curries and excellent pad thai- just like being in Phuket again! But their downfall is the lack of service. Whenever I visit, there is always a wait for a clean table to become available. And then a much more painful wait to order drinks. And then a much much much longer wait to order dishes. Service is very poor!!!
On one occasion, it was so bad that my boyfriend and I left after waiting for 15 minutes to order our drinks after being seated. I work in hospitality and find this to be a very big downfall. Their saving grace is the fantastic food they have! If they hired more staff then the service is sure to improve.
The food was good and the service average. The restaurant is a little small. It's OK if not full, but the last time I ate there, it was so packed, I could only leave my seat when the person behind me left.
Great food, great atmosphere. Fish cakes and satay are gorgeous and pad thai is extraodinary. This place is definitely a stand out at Macarthur square.
The food is really nice. I'm not really into spicy food but I still liked it. The ambience is pretty bad in my opinion. Its far too small and although the service is ok. It still feels like a mcdonalds rather then a restaurant. The value is pretty good though.
