The only thing great about this restuarant is the food!! Very tasty and fresh. The ambience is dull and the service is average!! If you don't mind ambience and service then this restaurant is OK!!
I visited this place due to Entertainment book. It may not be in the best of area but it certainly provided food and service of quality. Tried the duck curry and a stir-fried spicy pork dish with veges. The curry was very special, thick and sweet served with plenty of duck slices. The pork dish was spicy and very appetizing. Overall, it is a very good experience and certainly recommend visiting.
Always good value, especially with your Entertainment Book voucher, which gives you 25% off. Having said that tho' I agree with a previous reviewer's comment that it's a small restaurant that can get pretty cramped, especially on a busy night. So if dining on a weekend, make sure to book well in advance. At all costs, avoid the awful back section, where they put the latecomers without bookings. It's like the waiting room of a country railway station! Thai Cathriya is in a convenient location, easy to get to by public transport. If driving, avoid Avoca Street and try Frances St for parking (opp Randwick Town Hall).
Eat here often. The staff are always friendly and the food is consistently good. It is more 'upmarket' than other Thai eateries with its white table cloths, well designed menu, etc.
Waitress stared us dumbly as we walked in. The place is a bit too small for my liking - we were squished at the very back right next to the kitchen where we could hear the oven go off every 5 seconds. The food was ok except that the curry servings were extremely small and the pad Thai was not up to scratch. I will only come back if I have another entertainment bk voucher.
A group of us visited this restaurant on a Saturday night and were most impressed with the pleasant and well spoken waitress who met us on entry, ushered us to our table and promptly began to decant our wines. A pleasant evening (albeit a little noisy) with good food and excellent service. We would recommend this restaurant to others.
Not sure what all the fuss is about here. But in my experience, prawn crackers at a Thai restaurant are the fresh 'fried up' chip style crackers, not the supermarket rice crackers! Food was average and a friend raved, maybe my expectations were a bit high. Not sure if I'd hurry back. Service was ok, wouldn't recommend it for a large group.
