Overview of Thai Spice House

Welcome to Thai Spice House

Opposite the magnificent Orpheum Cinema, Thai Spice House Restaurant is an easy choice for the cinema crowd, as well as local LowerNorthShore diners in search of spicy satisfaction.

Despite its inclusion of all of the traditional Thai favorites, including the much-loved red, yellow and green curries, Thai Spice House has a super selection of contemporary meals crafted for Thai lovers looking for something new.

These include the Siam Sailor's Salad, a warm combination of prawns, calamari, chicken, fried eggs coated in chilli jam dressing and coconut milk; and the lightly battered soft shell crab with black pepper sauce, featuring homemade fresh chilli garlic and pepper on a veggies base.

Coeliacs will be pleased by the special gluten-free menu on hand, with the drinks menu even including gluten-free beer. This is one Thai restaurant that caters to many different tastes, all the while using quality ingredients.

We have a very friendly restaurant which welcomes diners.

Dined at Thai Spice House and had a lovely meal. Staff were very attentive even though we were dining with a voucher. Nice place to have an enjoyable Thai meal.

We went with a voucher last night and really enjoyed our meals. Even though we had the deal, we were treated no differently to ordinary guests. The only downfall was that they didn't have any duck left, which is a bit hard to believe given that they have two meals with duck on the menu.

I agree that they don't answer their phones and don't confirm email bookings at all. This made it difficult to make the booking in the first place but I took a print out of my email to ensure that we got in. Good experience on the night and really good service.

Being a Coeliac, its always tricky finding Thai restaurants that are able to cater for GF options. However, there were abundant amounts of options available.

We have dined here a few times (both as regular customers, and using the Cudo voucher) and each time we were treated with the same respect and service regardless of the voucher.

Serving sizes could be a little bigger, but the flavours are great and the waitstaff friendly. Although the atmosphere is quite cramped (and warm), its great for a quick Thai feast. If it weren't so far from us would make this a regular!

They don't answer their phones, ever, even when the restaurant is open. When they do decide to call back from their mobile, the woman was really rude, not wanting to answer questions, sighing loudly and making loud annoyed tones. That is why they never answer phone calls!? Because the woman gets annoyed so easily? If the "senior staff's" attitude is like this, imagine the staffs and the culture there.

The food is very Australianised, not authentic Thai, which is disappointing. Didn't see any Thai people eating here, so you go figure. Will not eat here again for sure.

Summary: Good, tasty food. Larger portions. Excellent catering for Gluten-Free. Accommodating to children.

We have eaten here about four times, and have always come away satisfied. We have primary school kids, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating towards the children. Spicy dishes are toned down on request to allow for younger and milder tastes. One of the family is coeliac, and because of the wide range of GF dishes available it is easy for the whole table to order GF so that food can be shared.

Although I don't have proof, one gets the feeling that the kitchen knows how to avoid contamination. I've eaten here with a critical friend who has lived and travelled widely in SE Asia and who enjoys finer food, and he gave the food high praise.

Second visit with the Entertainment Voucher, great Thai food. Usual Chicken satay to start and Massaman beef, decided on the Eggplant, basil, chicken mince with chilli special, divine but too hot for my partner. BYO charged for 2 even though only one drinking wine whilst the other had a house spirit. Not the cheapest in the area but one of the more interesting.

Great spot for a cheap but yummy feed. Good wine list available and plenty of choice on the menu. The wait staff are very helpful in assisting select dishes we would like, and the services were quite large. Really fresh ingredients were used in all the dishes, and some really great chefs specials.

The food was delicious! We chose our dishes from the house specialties which are more expensive than the standard stir fries and curries, but are definitely worth it. My one criticism would be the lack of fans/air conditioning.

I have been to many thai restaurants before, but I'd have to say this one is definitely one of the best! The food is top quality and delicious, and the chef and manager are very conscious of making sure everything is healthy and provide good portions.

The price range I found reasonable, and there is a good variety of choices. Much of the food reminds me of my trips to Thailand, so pretty much I got the real experience! Staff are friendly, attentive and very welcoming. It's a joy to eat there every time. I definitely recommend this restaurant.

I went to Thai Spice House on Saturday with my work friends and it was a fantastic night. The food was the best Thai I have eaten, service very prompt and sitting outside on a warm night very pleasant. I will always recommend this restaurant.
