Thai Jumpa Restaurant, located in the Sydney suburb of Asquith, offers great traditional Thai food served in a friendly, relaxed and warm environment. We only use the freshest ingredients which is cooked to order.

The food quality seems to have deteriorated drastically in the past few months. We bought 2 dishes - a gluggy Veg Pad Thai and chewy, vinegary beef salad. The meal cost over $30.00 and tasted bland at best. A major disappointment as this restaurant used to be a little gem.

Pretty good for suburban Thai. Good flavours, a clean restaurant and friendly service.

Our family has ordered takeaway on three occasions in the past year. On two out of the three occasions we did not receive what we ordered. The staff apologised in such a matter of fact way I wonder if this is a common problem. Such a disappointment, as it is now our 'local' thai venue. If the food was better than it is, you could make allowances for this type of mistake, but it is neither tasty nor bland, it is just ordinary.

First time customer (takeaway). Probably best not to order takeaway after 6.30pm on a Saturday. Staff seemed stressed and struggling to keep up, and most of the food mediocre. Might try again on a week night.

We dine in at Thai Jumpa, about 6 times a year. The staff are really friendly, polite with just the right amount of attentiveness. The kids love the money bags and salt and pepper squid. We then usually go for a duck curry or Penang.
Some friends say the food is quite spicy for Thai but that's just the way we like it! No complaints here. A refreshing change from most of the stodge served up by the other local establishments.

Well I live in Mt Colah so thought this is convenient, it's worth trying as it seemed to have quite good reviews. My experiences. We had Duck curry, which came with pineapple! which made this quite sickly. This should have been in the menu, they mention it as an ingredient in the Pangang curry.
We then thought lets try take away, see if things have improved. We ordered a chicken green curry, which may as well have been titled chicken coconut milk with a dash of curry. We also ordered the Massaman Beef Curry, this is normally very nice dish. Again disappointing. The beef was tough, the potatoes were not cooked.
So I'm out of giving chances, thinking maybe they'll improve. I seriously don't believe they are capable of this, without a change of kitchen staff.
As far as value for money goes, this is definitely not worth a visit, you pay around $17 for a main, for a meals of this standard, I wouldn't pay $5. The only ones that seemed to enjoy the meals were my dogs (they, unfortunately, had our meals).
Sorry if this sounds insulting, but I believe you try, try again then if it's not improving you need to tell them, which we did, but again to no avail. They don't accept criticism very well.
My wife tried telling them of the standard of their food, and the senior staff hung up on her. Not what I call brilliant PR. Oh well I won't be going back, and I'll definitely tell as many of my friends not to visit this establishment. Unfortunately, I will need to travel again to somewhere else to get decent Thai.

We order dinner from here regularly. Having three children we order take-away, early, around 6 pm. The food has always been great and still piping hot when we get home. Our children love the Chicken Wings from the Entree section. These chicken wings have a delicate marinade, which even the 2 year old loves. The meat is succulent and fresh and not oozing grease. Their Tom Kah soup is also great, with rice, as a perfect meal for children. Nice big pieces of chicken.
Our favorite mains are the Curries. In particular the Penang Curry. This rich curry has a lot of depth. The sauce is always thick and creamy not watery like other Thai’s in the Hornsby area. Not only does the dish have plenty of meat in it, there is always a great selection of fresh vegetables (carrot; broccoli; green beans; red capsicum; baby eggplant; fresh pineapple, Thai basil and a slice of chilli) in the dish not just bamboo shoots (again) like a lot of the other restaurants in the area.
I think it is worth paying a little extra to get a decent dish just not meat and sauce. To sum up, the dishes are always colourful and fresh and garnished with herbs where applicable. The staff always friendly and polite when we come to collect our order. The restaurant while not something out of a vogue magazine, is bright, clean and the kitchen can been seen by the patrons (not hidden out the back).
In summer we take the children there and we sit at the tables out the front of the restaurant and enjoy a great meal together! I would recommend this Thai restaurant to anyone dining in the area.

Food was quite ordinary. Nothing special or terribly wrong but not good enough for a return visit, as it was not especially economical either. Sorry!
