Went to this place with my BF terrific fresh food here with good portions. The service is a little shy but competent and the decor is very pleasant. The portions are very large, the presentation fantastic, Terrific to see the chef and his team working together harmoniously. We are making an effort to visit more frequently. Well done!

This was honestly the worst dining experience I have ever had. If this was a movie it would be C grade at best. The stir fry veggies and chicken were cold as if pre made. The soft shell crab tasted like crab guts and onion. The wine was over prices and tasted awful. This food is not "Thai" food. It is Asian at best. The wait staff were lovely. The music was different. The furniture and surrounds were tasteful. I would not return. Nor would I recommend this place to anyone. Save your self the trip. The cash. And make it your self. You would do a better job even if you burnt your food. And set your tea towels on fire.

I suspect that Terrace Thai reads these reviews or someone told them about William333's review. Our visit could not have been more the opposite. It is not world beating Thai but it was flavoursome, the servings good (plenty of veg), service excellent - all smiles and pleasantries - a buzz in the air (Friday 6.30-7.30) and lots of takeaway going out the door.
We have subsequently had a drink with a friend, who works near Terrace Thai and its main business is the lunch crowd (across the road from Channel 10) and definitely lunch and dinner takeaway.
NB: We had a 'voucher' and like with some packaged up menu/drinks, expected an average time/feed but we will be back.

This was a really disappointing experience. One of the worst Thai meals we have ever had. Meals had no flavour and the serving size was abysmally small, virtually no vegetables in the stir fries, just onion on palm leaf. The Pad Thai was just bean curd on another palm leaf.
We arrived at 8.30 on a Saturday night and the restaurant was empty. I now understand why. Eventually our order was taken and our first courses and mains arrived at exactly the same time. Just as well because the first courses were barely a mouthful. We decided to go for dessert somewhere else. Could we get the bill? No, the wait staff had disappeared and the wait staff were on Facebook (screen was facing the restaurant, so we could see it all).
Seats and cushions were dirty and tables remained uncleared. We will not be back, don't bother.

We've been to The Thai Terrace a few times, both lunch and dinner. We were very excited when it first opened, great location for us, right on the tram line, but it's never quite hit the mark foodwise. It's certainly some kind of Thai style food, just not done very well. Our signature dish of salmon and salad was poor last night, overcooked fish with soggy skin dumped on a pile of chunky vegetables that included way too much raw onion.
The other dishes all seemed to nod towards a sort of westernized take on Thai classics, nothing to really excite. It's a great room and has a nice staff and feel about it, just lift the food a bit and I'll be back.

After my first visit here a month ago (which was relatively ok) I decided to go back here with some friends for a nice dinner. I thought I had stumbled upon a great new local thai restaurant but after my last visit I will never go back here again! The service, food and portions had changed dramatically since the last time I was here.
Service: we were told to sit at the far end of the restaurant which was near the toilets, even though the restaurant was practically empty when we had first arrived. After waiting 10 minutes to be handed a menu, and countless times trying to get the staff's attention we managed to waive down one of the staff. Once we had ordered our food we were once again ignored.
When the food came out our waitress dumped the food down, whilst we noticed on other tables, they were served the food and plated on everyones plate. For drinks we had decided to BYO, and once again had to get the attention of the staff just to get glasses, whilst other tables that were seated after us were attended and given glasses, they even poured the wine for them, but with us, we had to pour our own.
It was only once we had finished eating that we were aknowledged that we even existed in this place and they took our plates away without having to be waived down! a miracle!
Food: The servings were quite small and were hardly big enough to share. The massaman curry had a disgusting burnt flavour to it, pad thai tasted alot like tomato sauce. The servings of the soft shell crab were a total joke, they only served 1 half of a very small crab. Due to the small servings we were wanting to order more food but were being ignored and decided that they obviously don't want anymore of our money so we opted to finish up and leave.
When we wanted to pay our bill we had to wait another 5 minutes to be served, even though they could see we were at the till and waiting. When we complained about the service (what seemed to be the senior staff) quickly responded with a non-heartfelt apology.
I am totally appalled at how their service was different depending on what type of person or group you were. Service should be the same across the board. Shame! Shame! Shame!
I will definitely stick to Wok Station where their food and service are always outstanding!

Not as good as sailor's thai, way better than your local takeaway shop. Massaman lamb shank was absolutely amazing.

I went here quite a few months ago, so I hope things may have improved since then. The value is excellent, and the food is very tasty. However, as a lover of Thai, I wouldn't have called what I ate "Thai cuisine". At best, it might be considered "Some semblance of Asian food, for non-Asian-eating Australians who don't want to dip a single toe out of their comfort zones". Take that as you will.
Ambience downrated as the place was completely empty when we turned up for lunch. We couldn't help wondering if the place had been avoided by the locals for a reason, although our experience certainly wasn't that bad at all.

What a disappointment! Four of us went last night with 2x Ouffer vouchers (for dinner for two and a bottle of wine for $39). The white wine had no label and was corked. We sent it back. The next was about as poor just without pieces floating in it. The bottle of red was a shiraz that was effervescent and clearly off.
We asked if we could please just order soft drinks as part of the $39 voucher since we couldn't drink the wine. They plainly refused and said we would only buy another bottle of wine. We tried to explain that we'd paid for a bottle of wine already and since we couldn't drink any of the 3 we'd tried we'd like a small soft drink each as part of the deal. "No." "No." "No."
I would've walked out if I hadn't already paid. The starters were 1/2 sizes and oily. The mains were okay, very average. We were still a bit hungry by the end - first time that's ever happened to me at a Sydney Thai restaurant! We definitely won't be going back.

Sydney sets the scene for a vast majority of Thai restaurants. Unfortunately, most are the epitome of a standard take out; and the ones that envisage a “flashy” restaurant rarely deliver in meeting expectations. Enter ‘The Terrace Thai’ however, and your first reaction is one of awe at the pretty décor. Instantly we were impressed at the style of the restaurant with the fresh table settings and the ornamental additions assisting in delivering a relaxed mood. We were greeted by the friendly staff with water and menus, with the versatility of an outdoor setting if desired. The menu is large and varied, ranging from your typical thai style stir fry to more traditional and fresh contemporary meal options. Seeing as it was our first visit, we decided to try the restaurants spinoff of the traditional chili basil chicken with noodles dish and we also went on to try the pork belly stir fried in a special sauce to name a few, and to be absolutely honest, they were… amazing! Mind you having received our drinks almost immediately on order, we began to converse as one does on a Friday evening after a hard weeks work. Barely ten minutes in and our meals had arrived. For some reason we were indeed having such an enjoyable time, we lost complete track of time. The lighting complemented the ambience well. All in all, for a person of European descent, who thoroughly enjoys Thai food on a regular basis, I can safely and willfully say that ‘The Terrace Thai’ exceeded my expectations with ease. The combination of a great setting, friendly oriented staff and speedy service make this a definite restaurant of choice. Also the large and diverse menu allow for more to be discovered and enjoyed on many occasions in the near future. Terrace Thai, please save me a regular seat!
