Food: the Paella is highly recommended but the moroccan chicken in couscous was dry and needed a bit sauce. Drinks: pricey, you can get them cheaper at the bar (literally around the corner). Ambience: very nice ambience with open kitchen, tidy and clean. Service: excellent service, well dressed waiters. Value: not great for an RSL house restaurant with dishes well over $20.

Food was served promptly in the bar bistro (even being a Saturday evening). Only let down was that the bar staff wasn't as prompt with drinks service.

It really is an overpriced RSL club. I think if I had received the meal I got (chicken wrapped in proscuitto) in the Bistro for less than $20 I would have been really happy but when they market this place as a five star club/meal, I was pretty disappointed. It is quite expensive for average food.

Oh Boy - I'll start by saying that I'm not a fan of clubs at all but I booked dinner at the Terrace Restaurant after some encouragement from a friend. I rang to book at table, no problems there. When we turned up, however, the club was hosting year 12 formal of celebrations, noisy and excited teenagers were everywhere, why, I asked myself, was this not mentioned at the time of booking?

Once seated our waitress brought our menu’s and asked us if we would like to hear the specials, we did and she rattled off the ones that she could remember and popped off to get her list for the remainder. Whilst clearly a lovely girl she was far too bubbly (I felt like I was at McDonalds) and kept referring to vegetables as vegies (over and over). I wouldn’t have minded if I was somewhere that was charging me less but for the price of the meals I expect to hear the word vegetables.

As I was perusing the menu I noticed that the background music was dance music and I’m not referring to the samba or the waltz. I believe that the track was a dance version of a Britney Spears song, I looked around at my fellow diners (all over 45) and thought that the music choice was clearly aimed at the staff (all under 20), by the way I’m 33. We ordered and drinks arrived promptly although the Mango Bellini which was ordered by my friend arrived after 3 requests and much later (20 minutes) because they have to get the mango ‘stuff’ from somewhere else.

I had a glass of the Skuttlebutt Shiraz Cabernet– very nice and the Swings and Roundabouts was also had and very good as well. Entrees arrived, I ordered the salmon and the other two members of my party ordered the scallops, mine was nice although nothing to write home about, the scallop dish was cheekily served with only 3 scallops. Our Mains arrived on huge and obviously heavy plates, I ordered the Lamb which arrived sliced and arranged to hide the fact that they had burnt it.

The other mains ordered were the veal scaloppini which was apparently very good and the Special, crumbed smooth dory which arrived battered. We shared a dessert between us, tiramisu which was pretty good. For the privilege of all of this I paid $225.00 for three people! Not worth it at all. I will never go back and I suggest that the restaurant senior staff take themselves off to some good restaurants for comparison. Terrible!

This restaurant seemed promising. My friend and I ordered the same main course of veal medallions an polenta with prawns and the serving size was huge. The presentation was clumsy and the food was like warm. We poured our own wine every time. Never the less we thought we would try coffee and dessert. Well, 1.5 hrs elapsed and not a single waiter came anywhere near us. Couldn't even get a menu. Absolutely abysmal service. Wouldn't recommend this restaurant at all.

Went there for lunch recently with some friends. There are two areas to eat in this RSL and this is the more "upmarket" of the two. This dining area has a nice feel about it with pleasant decor and comfortable seating. We were in a group of 5 and while we were served promptly we had to wait quite some time for the meals, when they arrived we were all moslty satisfied and found the size of the servings adequate.

I will say that it is incredibly overpriced and you could do much better at one of the numerous venues near by. I had a hamburger and chips at $19 which was almost the cheapest item on the menu, I would have liked to indulge in a steak but they were $35 - $40. Not sure if I would go back.

Good place for drinks and catching up good ambience. Food is bland and very average. Modern Australian cuisine. Service ok. Would recommend for drinks, grab a bite to eat in the asian restaurants next door or nearby.

Expensive drinks and very mediocre food. This place has generally gone down in stature over the years. Bar food is truly awful.

Food is usually very good here. The prawn risotto is delicious. The decor is something I have watched evolve over the years. They have never really managed to get it right. Way too themed. Upon visiting this week I was so pleased to see that awful plastic hedge disappear in an attempt to improve the decor. I noted some improvements though the big candlesticks that have been soaked in silver paint - blah!

I think as far as value for money goes, it's so overpriced. I miss the old days of the Epping club where it had its simple, family style bistro with that great fusion bar. They tried to go upmarket, and I'm guessing lost so much custom. I'm amazed the restaurant has managed to stay afloat as I feel they've priced themselves out of the market and lost the spirit of an RSL.

Don't get me wrong, the food is very good. Just doesn't feel right given it's inside an RSL club. (I hope they go back to the family style bistro).

We had a pretty good meal here. Surprisingly good quality (although you do pay for it). Only problem is the ambiance is a bit 'plastic' almost tried too hard. Wait staff were good.

Update: Went there last night and was very disappointed. Food was large but boring, wait staff were just kids more interested in flirting with each other and a table of younger 'lads'.
