Best place for Vietnamese French baguettes, with pork belly, and lemongrass beef, service can be a bit slow at lunch time (a bit like yelling for a cab), but the food is so fresh, try and see for yourselves.

The French-Vietnamese food is great. Gets very busy at lunch and can be
overwhelming. Service is a bit hit and miss.

Love this place! Yes you have to be in by 12:30 for lunch or you'll never get a seat, but make the effort and enjoy the experience. The menu is limited at lunch, baguettes, quiches and pies with a few specials, but its all good and the ambience makes up for any slowness or forgetfulness in the staff.
Try it as a starting point on Friday nights before a night out. Plenty of wines by the glass, great cheese platters and enough noise to make it interesting but not so much that its over powering.

Takeaway coffee took 20 minutes when there were 5 people in the queue. There is a much higher priority for coffees of seated patrons and they served the coffees way out of order. Also very watery coffee. Really not worth the wait.

I've been here a couple of times for lunch and have really enjoyed the food and the general "busyness" of the place. No bookings means be there at 12:30 or wait. And wait. Staff are most helpful to find a place though. Vietnamese/French is how I would describe it. The baguettes are worth a try with a nice glass of French rose.

Freshly baked bread for your takeaway baguette is the way to go. Bar food is fair, though head up the road to De Vine for a proper wine bar. Or even Small Bar if you're after a beer. Such a shame, as this place had so much promise when it first opened. Don't come after work, as there is no atmosphere.

You've got to love a place who serves french italian thai and chinese! we had the asian salad with crab and it was very fresh, the pork, however, it was coated with so much sugar (caramel) was sweeter than the dessert we had, best dish was the fish with some puree and fresh salad of fennel and the pasta with tomato and crab.
ps: we had the fillet in previous with the mushrooms and salad (chips as well) and it was exquisite! Try the rolls are always fresh and well made.

We loved the set lunch. This gem of a place has a French influence in both food and decor but without the pretentiousness. It was perfect that the food came out as soon as we arrived and was fresh too! The filled baguettes could not be faulted and when the next course of coq au vin, Mediterranean salad and roast potatoes came out we were in heaven. Then there was still dessert too (a selection of French pastries). The service was impeccable. Will definitely be back.

Went here the other night (friday night) first impression was very exotic, nice mixed atmosphere of asian/australian native. We sat near a corner place away from the lounge section which was quite loud and decided to try the 3 course meal which was a potato salad with ocean trout, and a double caramalised pork belly with a sour salad and a creme brulee for dessert.
The entree was quite nice but took a while to arrive and also since we sat in the corner it was quite hard to get the attention of the waitress. The main wasn't that great the salad was too sour and since the pork belly was a sweetish dish it made my tongue even more sensitive to the sourness. The dessert was alright nothing special. Overall the place is beautiful but for dinner it wasn't that great and cost me 80 dollars for 2 people so wasn't terribly bad but could be better.

Edit July 09: Bit of a shame, prices have gone up. Cog Au Vin is now $20 and you only get 1 baguette rather than 2 and the bourguignon seems to be gone. Coq Au Vin possibly had more chicken and certainly wasn't a bad deal for $20 and, perhaps, the suits that dine here won't mind but for me that's more than I want to pay for lunch and not really worth a trip into town to dine here like it used to be.
Sept 08 :Went into CBD on my day off today just to try this place, awesome!. Nice decor, friendly service, cold beer and most importantly great food. We had bouillabaisse and ciq au von after reading about them in Herald reviews. Both $14, both delicious and the baquettes they come with are great too. Will be making this pilgrimage again for sure.
