My fiance and I Love this place! We will make a trip into the Rocks just to get scones here. The tasting baskets are great value and the service is always polite. Best scones we have ever tasted.
I just had my 21st birthday party here and it was fantastic! I definitely recommend anyone consdering parties/functions here. The owner is very very nice, approachable and more than willing to cater for your needs! All my guests and I loved this place!
We ordered a tasting basket and it was really nice. The plain scones were just out of the oven and truly divine. I had tea which came with the cutest tea cosy ever! My partner had an irish cream coffee, which was a little on the sweet side but ok. He said he'd stick to tea next time. It was pretty busy and crazy, but worth the wait.
This place exceeded our expectations, the scones were so nice, fluffy and warm, the best I've ever tasted. The Irish tea was a delicious blend, service was friendly and it's great value for money. I would definitely be back for more!
This place makes GREAT scones!!! They are served literally straight out of the oven and taste fantastic. Really cute place, also. It's in a heritage old terrace and doesn't feel like you're in some restaurant where all they care about is making money. It's cosy and comfortable.
The scones are tops! Best I've had in a long time. So fresh and fluffy and lots of jam and cream. A real hidden treasure amongst the hustle and bustle of Sydney.
The first thing I noticed about this place was the music. It was festive and hilarious as the lyrics were, unusual. Aside from that the food was excellent, I had the plain scones with jam and cream. Which were rich and delicious. The lady who served us, however, was not pleasant to deal with. I gave my order to a frowning and unpleasant young woman who spoke in a very cold tone.
My friends and I joked that it could have been the fact that I wasn't irish. The same frowning I were taken aback by this behaviour as we've never encountered anyone from a place known for their "very friendly" service. But we also notice the same waitress being friendlier to other customers, which confused me. The other staff, however, were much much friendlier than that young woman, we were given our orders in an "unslamming" manner.
Aside from the extremely rude, unfriendly and frowning waitress, we had a great time and enjoyed scones and sodabread. I recommend that the waitress has her temper in check or rather, be more pleasant in serving.
Had morning tea on Sunday at this little place, which is tucked away behind the stairs at the back of the Irish Design Shop. The apple crumble and the scones we tried were delicious. The prices were reasonable and the service was very friendly. It's kind of a shame it's only open on weekends.
A hidden secret in the Rocks! behind the lovely Irish design shopfront, the Tara Tea Room is a warm and inviting little cafe in an old sandstone building with lots of character. It has a little sheltered and private courtyard, and a cosy area indoors full of Irish charm. Traditional Irish parafanalia are hanging from the walls and resting on the fireplace. Atmosphere is great. Plus being served by Irish girls makes the whole experience more authentic! and the food is wonderful.
I went with a small group of friends and we all ordered something different from the menu. The Rhubard and rasberry pie was Delicious! nice and warm and full of flavour. The soda bread was freshly made and very tasty! and the scones with jam and cream were to die for! not to mention the tea, coffee and hot chocolate were wonderfully made. And all very affordable! the soda bread and scones were both $8.50 and came with a drink of your choice included and the rhubarb pie was $10 with drink included. Good Homemade cooking is hard to come by, this place is a must see secret! and such good value! I've recommended it to everyone.
Lovely little hidden gem in the Rocks. The scones and soda bread are freshly baked and delicious! Real home style Irish baking in the centre of Sydney!
