Stopped in to Tango Cafe last night with my girlfriend to have meat platter with Rice and Salad and it was disgusting big time. It was very rare on most meats and the side of rice is very hard. Also there's live musical performance by a guy with a girl singing and it's heaps loud and horrible at the same time. But the service is not bad but overall not recommended at all.

Horrible for dinner, recommended by friends who have no idea, the argentinian mixed grill was disgusting. Best part was the BYO. Yuck and not recommended.

Stopped in for coffee. Took too long to drink my coffee so senior staff confronted me in front of all cafe guests as to what I was doing there and when was I going to order. The place was half empty. I have broken ankle at the moment so out of convenience stayed. Foolishly I order and had the BBQ plate for one a poor choice should be called the fatty grizzle plate. Also very tasteless.

I recently went here one weekend to get some breakfast before heading down to the beach. I had the standard bacon and eggs and it was okay and a good price. The people I was with had some kind of scrambled eggs with potatoes in it and said it was really good so I'll try that next time. The place seemed a bit chaotic but in a good fun way, I liked the energy of it.

One annoying thing is I don't think they do printed bills and you need to go to the counter to pay. The best thing about this place was the waitress, she was really attentive and seemed genuinely intent on making sure we were happy and looked after and had a beautiful smile. If I go back I think it would be for her.

Being Coogee locals we thought we would try Tango as we hadn't been before. The only word that can accurately describe the food is 'shocking'. I ordered the Latin Rissoto. It was a pile of clumpy rice with some indistinguishable ingredients slopped through. The 'chorizo' that was said to be in the risotto was boiled sausage sliced up. My boyfriend had the mixed grill or grill plate. The meat was very poor quality and very gristly. Service and ambience was adequate, but the food is certainly not worth paying for.

My partner and I wanted to have a late afternoon snack and decided to head into Tango Cafe. I had pretty low expectations to begin with, but was pleasantly surprised with the food we ordered. The service wasn't the greatest, but if you want something simple and fast then this is the place!

We just had dinner at Tango after a friend had told us to go there. The service very bad. It was sat night so they were quite busy. Food was cheap, we had a meat plater between two people. Big meal for cheap price but had very little or next to no taste.

It was very hard to tell if the staff were working partying. To be honest we could only see 1 waitress, she was trying hard but was not too fussed about serving her customers. We had BYO and had to ask 3 times for wine glasses. Then asked for the bill which never came. Not a very professional business.

Food was OK but not great. I ordered a bacon and egg roll and asked me how I wanted my eggs to which I replied poached. When we came to pay I got charged $12.90 for the roll instead of $7.90 as it was on the menu. When querying the $5 additional charge it was because the eggs were poached not fried. The guy before me also got hit with a surcharge he wasn't expecting on his coffee.

Make sure you check how much things will cost or better still go to one of the many other cafes on the street and give this one a miss. I have eaten at a number of the other cafes on the same strip and the food is better and they charge you as written on their menu.

Update review: recently returned with a few people. The meat platter really contains some very inferior cuts full of gristle and fat. Sure is cheap, however, a little on the nasty side.

Previous review 23/1/2009: I would not rate this as fine dining, however, its a fun place, loud, good food, decent servings and overall pretty good value for your money. I dined here with Lil Neecy and friends midweek. I had the BBQ meat platter, Neecy and Una had a grilled chicken salad dish each while the Jaaard had the seafood paella platter. Many other choices available also. Our Tab for 4 mains, garlic bread and 4 coffees was just less than $25 per head. I also enjoyed the latino music, I nearly got up to dance the salsa!
