Having Eaten here 3 times in the last 2 months I have nothing but praise, the service is impeccable, the food flavoursome and diverse. A small dining room gives the feeling of being in a home more so than a restaurant but that is part of the charm.
I have experience this restaurant as both a group of 2 and a group of 10, both times the service and food quality was exactly the same, perfect.
Surprising in one word. Service was slow to start with but picked up towards the end. This was understandable as I believe the owner, waiter and cleaner were one in the same (as I could hear a vacuum cleaner the moment we entered). The food was great and surprising for us as we're not big fans of the spicy aroma. The flavours from the butter chicken, mango chicken and lamb dish were to be commended as this was a lovely delight to the tastebuds.
When my husband originally suggested that we go to Tandoori Corner for a meal, I was less than enthusiastic. Not being a fan of Indian food I was not expecting such a treat. The first thing that struck me was the incredible mix of aromas in the air as we walked in the door. The beautiful blend of cooking spices and other ingredients filled the air so that by the time our meal arrived I was really ready to dig in to the food.
From that first visit we have become regulars. Whenever anyone says to me, "Oh I really don't care for Indian food."my response is just go to Tandoori Corner and you will change your mind.
The food is exquisite. There is a depth of flavour I have not found in ANY Indian restaurant I have gone to since Tandoori Corner.
My husband and I visited this restaurant after reading reviews of it on here, and I must say we were very disappointed. We usually visit another Indian restaurant in Blacktown which we find absolutely wonderful, and we thought we would do the comparison. Well after the food we received, I haven't been back to St Mary's and we are still regulars at Blacktown.
The food we ordered was a vegetable packora, which was nice but dry. Our mains were very bland and watery. Comparing this place to our regular, we found a disliking to the frozen vegies used in the meal as instead of fresh ones and the gravy in the dishes was watery compared to what we are used to. I found the food quite spicy but without flavour, just the hot sensation from the chilli and nothing more.
Quite disappointing. We were provided with complimentary mango lassi's- they were nice but as my husband is allergic to nuts he couldn't drink his (it had pistachio's in it). Luckily I tried mine first and warned him. We did ask for no nuts in our dishes when we walked in, so they were aware. Also, we are big fans of cheese naan bread, their's was highly disappointing. It was very sweet. I like my bread more savoury. It might be a matter of preference, but our preference is to never go back. The menu prices are slightly cheaper then our preferred place in Blacktown, but I prefer quality over price.
Food is good and has a lot of flavour. Been here a few times to eat in, and last time got take away. That last time, the rice was still very hard and obviously undercooked which ruined a good meal. Service can also be a little slow. Other-wise, it is quite a good local indian restaurant.
Food was great, not too heavy. The spanner crab entree was excellent. Had a great chocolate martini in the dark lounge after dinner, perfect place for a date.
The food never fails to be awesome. Paramal is the consumate host who makes you feel equally welcome whether its your first time, or a regular. I have been there so many times, am an avid regular, despite moving to the other side of Sydney. The food, service and price make it worth the drive.
After reading all of these rave reviews, I couldn't wait to visit Tandoori Corner for the very first time. For an entree we had the Mixed Platter for two which was just divine, the flavours and spices were so interesting and worked so well together, it was fantastic.
For mains we had the Butter Chicken and I am sorry to say we were disappointed. I had very high expectations of this dish but after one mouthful my partner and I both agreed that the main flavour was tomato and not butter, nor was the flavour at all hot. Nontheless, we both had an amazing time and when we went to pay the bill, I was pleasantly surprised at only $65 for two starters and two mains, great value!
The owner was a great, friendly host and asked us where we were from and told us that they have been there for 19 years! I almost fell off my chair! He wouldn't let us leave without trying his Mango Lassi which of course, was incredible.
Fabulous!
This place is an institution! I have dined at all the Indian restaurants in the area and I can assure you they take second place to Tandoori Corner. I have been dining at this restaurant for many years now and continue to frequent often. The banquet for $31.50 is fantastic.
The curries are in a word DIVINE. Unlike most Indian restaurants with pre made curries, Phitiba (owner chef) makes hers fresh as they are ordered. I have introduced friends and business associated to this restaurant who all keep going back. Try it yourself as I know you will be glad you did. Say hi to Parimal and tell him Scott the curry lover sent you there.
