Food culture represents one face by which a country knows itself and by which it shows itself to the world. Due to its great ethnic diversity, Taiwan has a wide variety of such faces and, moreover, these have increased and strengthened with the rise in local awareness. It can be said that Taiwan’s varied cuisine shows ethnic, geographic, economic, and other cultural influences.
Taipei Chef Restaurant not only aims to introduce the diversity in Taiwanese cuisine to new customers, but also provide a sense of belonging to those who are familiar with the Taiwanese cuisine.

Nice food, very authentic taste of Taiwanese food, and the service is very warm and friendly. The ambience isn't great but you wouldn't come here for a romantic dinner in the first place, so as long as it's clean and tidy it is ok.
The only down side in my opinion is that the food portion is a bit small side for the amount they charge.

Came here tonight after reading reviews on a magazine and weren't disappointed.
We had the recommended smoked chicken which was surprisingly very tasty and moist. Also tried the mince pork rice and mongolian beef. The beef had a quite strong taste of black bean sauce, but was good nevertheless.
Will return to try more dishes another day.

My wife and I have eaten here many times. The five spice chicken, the Taiwanese omelette, and the pork belly are firm favorites. Decor is ordinary, but clean and serves its purpose.
The pork mince rice is very good, the stir-fried rice vermicelli is also flavorsome and generously portions. The xo sauce clams are also tasty. Good value for money.

One of my all time favorites up this way. The slow cooked pork belly is one of best I've had. This place is full of local Taiwanese, so it's a good indicator of the quality of food here. The decor isn't much but as a food lover first that doesn't really matter to me.

We dined on a busy Saturday night. With seating for only 14, the take away was in demand from locals. We started with a selection of dumplings, 3 pork and 3 prawn. These were firm and not doughy nor oily. The salt and pepper crystal prawns were of very high quality, with plenty of juicy flavours.
The Taiwan beef fillet with house black pepper sauce was also of high quality, with the fillet still pink in the centre of the piece. A generous serving of steamed greens and soy paste was a fine accompaniment to the main course dishes.

What a find! Great Taiwanese food and the take away is just as good as the dine in meals which doesn't happen very often! We love the Mongolian beef, Sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken dumplings (hot!), Black pepper beef and basically everything on the menu. The restaurant's not much to look at, but the food makes up for it, the service is friendly and the value terrific. I do wonder if they use MSG but I'm willing to overlook that.

Delicious food! Had a booking for a group ~20 and they very happily accommodated us (and took up most of their restaurant).
The salt and pepper prawns (tiny ones, you eat the shell and all) were crispy and a bit spicy. The kung pao chicken and beef in black pepper sauce were great, as was the sweet and sour pork. We also this really nice omelette (very nicely fried) and stir-fried vegetables.
All the dishes were yummy and there's plenty to choose from. Large portions (great for sharing) and very decent value. The only downside is it can get very noisy if you're with a big group. Otherwise, will definitely come back.

I love the slow cooked pork belly here. The place doesn't look like much, but the food is incredible and for quite reasonable prices. The friendly staff leave nothing to complain about either.

Wow.Great great food. Great value. Only downside is the noise, it's full of happy Chinese (Taiwanese?) eaters, which means it's loud. But the food soon makes you forget it. We live local so plan to try and limit ourselves to once a month, been twice and tried different things, still pretty jazzed : )

Had takeaway from Taipei Chef on friday after much anticipation and it was very, very good. The menu has a several dishes I really want to try and can't wait to go again, but it will be hard to ignore the dishes we had on friday. The fillet beef in pepper sauce is as suggested below excellent. The meat was so tender and the sauce is incredibly rich. So wonderful. We also had the taipei green beans. These came with mince and had a spicy chilli sauce that was a bit vinegary. Absolutely delicious and addictive. We also had the pork dumplings which were above average. Definitely worth a try if you are bored of the usual takeaways and the portions were large. Could definitely have fed an extra person with our order.
