Great authentic French cuisine with a wide and varied menu (food & wine!). Went on a Saturday night (with a booking) which was just as well as by 8pm they were full and turning down walk-in's by the dozen. Price was quite reasonable for the size of the portions and the quality of the food. Highly recommended

Lovely place, the best French restaurant I've been to in Sydney. We went on a Sunday evening. The service was great, attentive without being overbearing and the food shone. We had the tripe and the black pudding to start (both specials), which were impressive. The mains were delicious and well executed (steak tartare, another special and the duck) as was the dessert. The only downside, if there was one, was the price. Tabou is more expensive than a suburban restaurant but then again this is not suburban restaurant fare! Highly recommended.

My husband took me here for our wedding anniversary as a consolation to not being able to take me back to Paris. And did we enjoy some gorgeous french food. The service was good and knowledgeable, the waitress actually understood some french too! The price was high (but still cheaper than going to France), we'll be back when we next need another french food hit. Merci Tabou.

One of the few really lovely restaurants open in Sydney on a Sunday night. I came here with my boyfriend last weekend. The ambience was lovely and the service was something I could rave on and on about.

We started with a $25 glass of champagne each. I must say that it was the silliest decision of the night, as I really could not tell the difference between this and a $25 bottle of sparkling white. And for $25 a pop, I was really wishing for a strawberry or something as an added extra!

The mains were delectable (I had the duck, whilst my all-man boyfriend had the steak and steak frites). The pureed truffle potatoes were sublime, as was the salad of beetroot, lettuce and radicchio. Dessert of profiteroles with praline ice cream and chocolate sauce were a little disappointing, with them being quite dry and not at all doughy, though the serve was huge and we were very glad we shared.

Overall, I was highly impressed with the ambience, service and the food in general. The prices were also fairly reasonable, at about the $30 mark for mains and $20 for entrees. We'll certainly be going back!

This fabulous little bistro never fails to impress and after last night's Bastille Day Dinner, it has cemented itself in my top 5 restaurants in Sydney list. The chestnut and foie gras soup was so divine I thought I might die from delight and left me wanting to lick the bowl. The baked marron with smoke eel butter was delicious with an apple and radish salad, the perfect texture. This was followed by a fromage sorbet palate cleanser which just danced on your tongue. Then the wagyu brisket just melted in your mouth.

Dessert was also heaven on a plate and with the accordion player belting out Edith Piaf and other French classics, our night was near perfect. One of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Thank you Tabou, I won't wait a year to come back next time.

We were lucky to have gotten the window seat which is probably the nicest table in the place (if you don't mind it being a little "cosy"). Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly and made good recommendations - not rude or indifferent at all. Our food was delicious perfectly cooked steak and really good creme brulee. A little overpriced (charging $4 for sauce on a $30 steak is pushing it) but overall a very enjoyable meal and nice romantic atmosphere.

We made a phone booking for Sat. night for 6 pm - told ungraciously that we had to be out by 8:30, and then on the night waited 15 mins before we received any attention. The portions presented were small and overpriced and to be charged extra for side dishes was unreasonable. There was no friendly greeting on arrival and no farewell at departure. Less expensive restaurants in the area are superior.

Took the in laws there, they loved it. We walked in at about 1.30 on a Thursday for lunch, weren't rushed by the staff. Had a very authentic French lunch, price was OK and my cassoulet was delicious.

Good food, but poor service. A lofty attitude from staff is completely fine, but should be deserved. We walked in around 9pm, asked for a table for 2, no problem, sat down and were ignored for the next half hour. Throughout the night we were struggling for attention. There were only 2 of us, so perhaps easy to miss, but good service is a very important part of the experience. Especially as it was a celebratory dinner, and definitely not cheap. I have enjoyed dinner here before, but on this night would have appreciated better service for us at Tabou.
