We had a fantastic night at the Vanguard. The food is amazing. I had the Braised beef shoulder ravioli and my partner had the smoked ocean trout carpaccio. For our mains we both had the sweet potato risotto. Portion sizes were good and the food tasted amazing.
Unfortunately, we were to full for desserts. They have a great wine list with quirky wines I was not familiar with but the waiter lead me in the right direction with a Pinot Blanc from Alsace France. We can't wait to comeback and check out on of there in house burlesque shows.

Both the trout pate and the BLT were excellent, and so were the chips. Prices may seem a bit steep considering the only menu is at the counter, and that's where you have to order also. But the portions are so large, I'd conisder this place value for money. The lovely setting is just a bonus.

Ate early at 6:30pm, we came for the Wednesday special, mussels cooked in a variety of way for three. The servings of mussels were enjoyed by the three of us and consumed with gusto. Our fourth member enjoyed a tender steak. Before and as we ate we all enjoyed the fine beers on tap!
The atmosphere is excellent and even though the restaurant area was next to the bar the noise level was acceptable and a good conversation was able to be conducted over the meal.
For visitors to Sydney, easy access to this area is possible by the bus system.

The arrival of this restaurant in North Turramurra was a welcomed addition to the offerings in the area, replacing the defunct Quattro and hopefully offering more accessible pricing than the upmarket Cooks Garden.
We've eaten there twice and attempted to book for a third time only to find it booked out on a Friday evening.
The menu and the quality of the food are to be commended, this place could be a real gem. The experience, however, is really let down by ambience and most of all service.
The ambience would be greatly enhanced by the installation of a door closer as the door blows open frequently rendering the closest tables useless. The table layout is confusing and cramped but that could easily be turned into an advantage if staff were able to work effectively with it.
The real problem is front of house. Leaving people waiting at the door or outside it causing confusion, the lack of effective table planning (get policy right on reservations), the lack leadership on the floor and the under trained staff who clearly have no game plan to work to. All this can be resolved readily, employ an empowered front of house manager, define a service plan, train the staff, monitor them and provide feedback.
I want to see this place succeed and I hope that they are able to work on this because the food is really good but they are turning off many locals at the moment.

Thought we'd try somewhere different before a night at the state theatre.
We shared a bottle of wine and were offered water. We were presented with a 600mL bottle of Mt Franklin for $7.00. This would be fine if it was a high end restaurant, but for a restaurant which appears like a diner it was a bit much.
I had the salmon teriyaki which was over cooked and, therefore, too dry. It was served with rice and a single leaf of bok choy. Although the sauce was good, there was not enough.
The service was superficial. The waitress became bitter after we suggested that we'd not requested bottled water. Will not be returning.

Very disappointing. I was a semi regular visitor. The food was good but the excessive loud Turkish music and heavy smoking which comes back through the open doors really made it a not enjoyable venue. Never again.

I was eager to dine at Apollo, the street view was promising and the place was packed at 6:30pm.
Unfortunately, I found it quite disappointing. I am certain that I would not recommend or re-visit this restaurant. The vibe and hype is there and the fit out is trendy with exposed cement walls, the food lets it down.
I found that most dishes were very heavy and very salty. The lamb seemed like it was cooked in duck fat, the fried cheese was very salty, and so were the side potatoes. The whole menu could really only be shared. I would imagine the heaviness would be too much if you ordered a dish to yourself. The salad was the only thing on the menu that promised to cut through the heavy salty grease and even that was disappointing with a big slice of salty fetta with oil placed on top.
For what we got it was far too expensive. We left the venue paying $85 each for a table of 7, too steep for share style between that many people.
I left feeling hungry and with a significantly lighter wallet.

Il Piave is almost perfect. Italian generosity of spirit and flavour paired with a most exquisite restraint. Nothing is too much. The menu is very small, but so considered and balanced. No dish is overloaded, every ingredient has its moment to shine. The entrees and pastas are 'modern Italian' but prepared with such traditional integrity, every mouthful is like a prayer. The meat dishes defy choice. You will want to eat everything on the menu, and will return until you do.

I'm disgusted with the poor service here. It seems that the senior staff has no idea about customer service at all. After receiving a take away coffee that had sugar in it (I don't have sugar at all being a diabetic), I informed him over the phone when I ordered the following day what had happened. When I went in to collect my take away coffee he attempted to charge me for it! I explained that I didn't expect to pay for it after throwing out the other one. He was furious and was rude.
How on earth do people think they'll keep customers if they're so short sighted? good customer service goes a long way. That is why I will never return there even though it is one minute from my house. Rather I will back track 10 minutes out of my way to Parc in clovelly st where Michael and all his staff know about wonderful customer service, loyalty and consistently good coffee. It's no wonder they are so busy despite what day of the week it is.

The refurb really opens this pub up, the indoor areas are many and comfy compared to the previous options. Pity the food has got worse, yet more pricey. $26 for a curry is way pricier than the thai or indian restaurants nearby. $18 for a soup? Go there for a drink before or after your meal elsewhere.

Spotted in our local paper that the chefs from Shangri la Chiang Mai were over for a special Thai food promotion, so popped in for lunch today. Very welcoming staff into a lovely, bright buffet room (very 5 star hotel, so nothing original, but not dated or tired). Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the buffet was varied and good value at $48.00.
Loved all the salads, thought the chef had made a nice balance between satisfying those diners who like an authentic level of spice, and those who prefer it milder. Really enjoyed all the hot dishes, especially the beef massaman, the green curry, the tom kah gai and the chilli mussels.
All in all a delightful experience (even for my father who doesn't like thai food).

It's a nice place to stop in for a drink but forget about having an event here! In all my time working and managing events, I have never experienced such Terrible customer service. The girl who manages the restaurant and was charged with managing our event was rude, incompetent and even though the event went well, it left a very bad taste in my mouth.
In short, I would not use them for anything ever again. I now apparently have to go back and wait to sign for a courier to pick up our event boxes tomorrow as I was informed that "they are not allowed to sign for items." Great. This is after they turned away our courier today. Luckily we are located down the road and not in another state right.
Anyway, nice venue and good event only let down by a terrible attitude to customer service exhibited by the management team. Get out of hospitality if you can’t be hospitable.

I have been to Lynn's Shanghai a couple of times. Both times have been very enjoyable and the service was almost excellent. The owner, Teresa, came over on both my dining days and checked whether we were okay. As previous reviews have mentioned, the waiter/esses were a bit off the ball. We had to point to the teapot for it to be refilled despite it sitting there when food was brought round or when they walked by. It seems there was a bit of selective sight.
Overall we enjoyed the meals especially the sesame pockets, filled with chicken. We found the Beijing strips with pancakes rather oily. I would return to this place.

I dined here on a Saturday night and enjoyed my time here immensely, and would definitely recommend it to others seeking yummy authentic Lebanese food and a fun lively atmosphere.
Our waitress was very welcoming and showed us to a large table near the front window, and was able to answer any questions we had, we enjoyed attentive but not over the top service which was nice for a change.
The food was the star attraction of course with the lamb shawarma having a fuller flavor than many I have had before, the mansaf dejaj had a very nice tenderized pulled chicken topping which I really enjoyed having never had the dish before. And we enjoyed the belly dancing show (if you’re up for some fun: joining in is encouraged!)
All in all a great night out for my anniversary, with a more unusual treat at the end of champagne and shisha out the front under their cozy heaters. I’m really glad I tried it despite mixed reviews online and thought I’d share my experience of a little of Lebanon in Newtown that I really enjoyed.

Had a Maranello pizza, a spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread between 2 adults and 1 little kid for weekend lunch. It was plenty. Pizza was tasty, pasta was good but sauce a little bit on the tart side. My kid must have enjoyed it, he ate 2 cereal bowlfuls of the pasta.
Food was good, was glad when the staff changed the music to some latin stuff. I'm not keen on pop music during my meals.
