We had a fantastic night at the Vanguard. The food is amazing. I had the Braised beef shoulder ravioli and my partner had the smoked ocean trout carpaccio. For our mains we both had the sweet potato risotto. Portion sizes were good and the food tasted amazing.
Unfortunately, we were to full for desserts. They have a great wine list with quirky wines I was not familiar with but the waiter lead me in the right direction with a Pinot Blanc from Alsace France. We can't wait to comeback and check out on of there in house burlesque shows.

Both the trout pate and the BLT were excellent, and so were the chips. Prices may seem a bit steep considering the only menu is at the counter, and that's where you have to order also. But the portions are so large, I'd conisder this place value for money. The lovely setting is just a bonus.

Please note that Italian Village, Waterfront and Wolfies are owned by the same group. We booked for Italian Village through Dimmi, but were seated at Waterfront. Ok, that's fine, but knowing that they could not provide a table that was requested (We were just given any table, not the Reserved one), that is just Poor Customer and Booking service.
Ok, maybe because my name is too exotic, so they could not find me on the list? She had that "I don't understand what you were saying" look. Bad! Overpriced, not so spectacular.

Spotted in our local paper that the chefs from Shangri la Chiang Mai were over for a special Thai food promotion, so popped in for lunch today. Very welcoming staff into a lovely, bright buffet room (very 5 star hotel, so nothing original, but not dated or tired). Staff couldn't have been more helpful and the buffet was varied and good value at $48.00.
Loved all the salads, thought the chef had made a nice balance between satisfying those diners who like an authentic level of spice, and those who prefer it milder. Really enjoyed all the hot dishes, especially the beef massaman, the green curry, the tom kah gai and the chilli mussels.
All in all a delightful experience (even for my father who doesn't like thai food).

This placed is always packed and popular in the evenings, particularly on weekends and last Friday did we got lucky by dropping in without a reservation. We were told from the outset that yes, they could fit us in though we needed to be done and dusted in an hour, which was fine, we intended grabbing an entree and pizza to share. If you like the hustle and bustle of a busy cafe (this is not a restaurant in my book) then great, lots of staff running around like headless chickens.
But if you prefer a relaxed, more sedate dining experience, avoid at all costs! The service was fine, though wihin 20 minutes, we felt pressured to eat up and be gone, the waitress 'hovered' constantly like a bird of prey to the point of annoyance. We were outside which was fairly manic, though going inside to settle the bill all hell was breaking loose with cutlery being dropped left right and centre!
The food? Ok, nothing amazingly flash to be frank. I'd give it another go, perhaps, for lunch on a nice day though wouldn't rush back in a hurry.

I like Seachange for brekkie. The food is always consistent. Love the Cali.
The thing I don't like about Seachange is that the tables are so crammed in that you feel like you are sitting on top of the people around you. You actually have to stand up at times to allow people to get around you. The staff are young generally so sometimes service can be hit and miss but we go back.

Had a Maranello pizza, a spaghetti bolognaise and garlic bread between 2 adults and 1 little kid for weekend lunch. It was plenty. Pizza was tasty, pasta was good but sauce a little bit on the tart side. My kid must have enjoyed it, he ate 2 cereal bowlfuls of the pasta.
Food was good, was glad when the staff changed the music to some latin stuff. I'm not keen on pop music during my meals.

Firstly – the view is spectacular. However, this isn’t enough to make up for the incredibly slow service, the tatty furniture and the average food at ridiculous prices.
We were seated along a couch on one side of the table and although it was stuffed with cushions you could see all the wear and tear on it, making it look like furniture from a youth hostel rather than a nice restaurant. Similarly the metal surfaces needed polishing and there were crumbs on the chairs.
We arrived at 12pm for our lunch booking and didn’t get our entrees until 1.30pm. It then took another hour for mains. We had asked repeatedly about the delay and in the end we wanted to leave before the mains even came. When they did arrive they were really average and somehow things which should have been flavour-packed were bland. The only mains that some of our group enjoyed were the simple grilled fish, although again the sauces served with them were nothing special. And for $35+ dishes you feel ripped off.
I wouldn’t come back here, there are far better places around.

We were hesitant coming to a local restaurant in lane cove, which is our local but not know for good food. And the reviews didn't make us want to come either. Despite this, we tried it for dinner on a Sunday.
My partner and I both really enjoyed our meal. The pizzas were fantastic, more napoli style rather than the crispy roman style which I think some people can call 'soggy'.
The ambience is very much like the italian pizzerias, loud and busy. Which is reflective in the service (these guys were not nearly as rude as the ones in italy). Upon reflection, our waitress was quite lovely.
We didn't have an issue with water, we asked for tap water and tap water was delivered. We had no issue with value or the cost of the pizzas. It didn't cost more than what you normally pay in other North Shore italian restaurants.

The most arrogant Italian eatery I have ever come across. Appalled at the service, food and coffee. Everything they did for us was they bent over backwards for, actually quite shocked as to the standard of this greasy place. Don't expect a smile or acknowledgement unless your friends with Don Juan at the door.

Hubby and I went back for the second time and for the second time we were incredibly disappointed in the food here.
The only good thing is the salt and pepper chicken wings, they are lovely.
We had two mains with fried rice. The fried rice was flavourless, it was almost watery and the rice was mushy. Nothing resembled like it had been tossed round in a hot wok.
The singapore noodles were the worst I have ever had in my life. You could see and taste the graininess of the curry powder. And we had the lamb with special sauce that was supposed to be spicy hot. It tasted like mongolian lamb to us and had no 'spice' heat to it at all.
I cannot recommend this restaurant and we will not be returning unless it is for the chicken wings as takeaway. Another truly annoying thing was they had a large plasma tv on the wall and it was on. You watched people sitting at their tables watching the tv and not talking to their companions. Weird.

I was recently invited to a lunch at Pier as a guest with a small group of ladies recently.
The food was quite average and definitely not the best lunch I have ever had. I found no fault with it, just that it was nothing to rave about. Eyebrows were raised at the 10% non-gratuitous "Gratuity" charged for a Saturday lunch, simply outrageous.
And I didn't feel the love. I had to shout down the waiter who was busy servicing one of the other 2 tables of 4 (obviously a-la-carte and not on the "budget" fixed lunch menu we had) twice. The other table appeared to have walked out. I received my drink part way into being served my entree and was not given a napkin until I asked a couple fo times.
We were charged incorrectly for an non-existent person, then were told that should have checked it prior to payment after we detected their error. (We also didn't know about the surcharge!)
The food was nice but the service was arrogant and unprofessional re a simple and justified bill query.
All in all I had a very average 3 course lunch with one average glass of wine, overlooking a nice not spectacular view, lacklustre service, all for a princely hatted price! (only with no hats!)
won't be going back nor will I recommend which I often do. Maybe I should've stayed home.

Beautiful restaurant, unique location. Really liked the food, french modern Aus cousine. Dessert, I only liked one out of the two dessert. Wine pairing, slightly disappointed with the white wine selection. I don't think the wine pairing complimented every dish. Pasta and razor claim/crab dish was the highlight for me.
I was unhappy that at one stage, the courses from the degustation was being served at 30 minutes intervals. We arrived at 12:30pm, but ended up being served the meals the same time as someone who arrived at 1:00pm. I understand that the kitchen makes them in batches, which is fair enough. But we were there from 12:30pm till 4pm, which made the experience long and draining. Hopefully the kitchen service can be better managed.

We just went unplanned towards Cremorne area for a night out for dinner and I left this place so disappointed. I didn't want any of the mains on the menu so ordered a couple of the starters which were quite expensive for they were. My husband got the pork belly for main and it was a very fatty piece with little actual edible meat on it, that had been microwaved, just disgusting! There are much better places in the area with better value too.

5 of us ate there for lunch. The food is among the best Lebanese food any of us have eaten, with two of us having eaten many times in the Lebanese restaurants in Cleveland St, Surry Hills,in the 1980's, and another two eating similar food travelling around Jordan and Egypt.
The new chef prepares everything fresh on the premises. The set menus are a great option if, like we found, the menu is overwhelming. We ordered 4 set menus for 5 people and there was still too much food, though it was all delicious.
The service is spot on, interested and caring, and always there well before we needed to ask. They even brought out a chocolate slice with a candle on when the waiter found out it was my sister's birthday.
Vegetarians are well catered for and the waiter was very particular in pointing out what food I should avoid (dairy and wheat intolerance).
This place is highly recommended and we will definitely be back!

We had an enjoyable night at Ormeggios last night, we had the 6 course degustation menu.
The service was spot on with just the right amount of time between courses. The food was well presented and although the portion sizes were small the flavors were intense, the pork skin wasn't crunchy on my serving but I loved the baccala dish, my favorite was the ricotta and burnt butter pasta and the palate cleanser which ironically wasn't part of the 6 courses.
The dessert was refreshing and I personally loved the citrus theme. I didn't leave completely stuffed but felt full. Pricey but not excessively so for what you get these days especially at a hatted restaurant.

Totally not recommended and completely agree with the comment posted on 7th May 2012... Service was horrific! The head waitress seriously have an attitude problem and for a table of 12 costing us over $1,200, we deserve better attitude and service than this. Loosen up lady! And the head waiter... Stop giving us dirties just because we are sharing our dessert! Such condescending service.
What a waste of my time and money! With already a very limited menu, one would think the restaurant will provide a better service to compensate but this clearly not the case. In addition, we brought our own cake and they want to charge us $15 per head for cakage?! Oh but apparently you get a scoop of ice cream with the serve! Haha what a joke!
