One of our favourite places to eat in Manly. The food is great, it's so fresh and tasty and the portions are really generous. Only problem is as mentioned below they are so popular and busy you have to be lucky to get a table if you don't call ahead, so sometimes we miss out and have to settle for second choice venue.

What a great place. I can imagine finishing up a summers day here. Top food, top beer. We had one of the banquet meals and finished it off with a shot of good quality tequila. Recommend!

I have tried Beef Burritos and Nachos over there, food was really good, I can feel really mexican food what I tried when I was there. It was value for money as well, it is quite competitive compare to other mexican restaurant around.
I will recommend any one who like to try Mexican food.

I have also been here twice. The first time I liked the food as it seemed authentic and the atmosphere was lively. I was excited to go back last Friday with a group of four, however, I was pretty disappointed and actually a bit embarrassed to bring my friends there.
The food was Ok. Not amazing and basically a bit stodgy and bland but it was a cold night and we were starving so average food wasn't the main issue. What was embarrassing for me was the terrible, unhelpful service. I get that this place is open late and has an after hours buzz about it. Yes we were early, there was only one other table of diners but we had to work pretty hard to get any kind of service.
When we asked for plates as we were sharing food, 2 were dumped on the table (again there were four of us) there were no indication of which dishes were vego (we had to ask) and food and drinks were all unceremoniously plonked on the table. When we needed serviettes, drinks, more food or anything at all, we had to basically look in the kitchen for someone to serve us.
I don't expect silver service in a casual place like this but just being friendly, helpful, present and professional would have made a huge difference to our night. Dinner and drinks was $300, admittedly we had a few rounds of shots, the tequila at least is top notch. Sadly another example of disappointing service in Sydney.

Fortunately, we hadn't read the reviews prior to spending a great night here. The night was cold and miserable but the vibe was great, the restaurant was full without being packed and we weren't rushed. The meal consisted of baha California fish tacos and a chicken enchilada, both were very well prepared and nicely presented.
Complementary chillies on the side were a pleasant bonus. Wine reasonably priced and the barman looked like he took pride in his work and was entertaining too. Not quite sure why there are those negative reviews. We thought it was a really pleasant change for a Mexican restaurant.

Awesome place to just chill out and relax. Friendly staff make you feel comfortable and welcome. A bit eclectic which is one of the many reasons why I love it there. Highly recommend-hot apple cider, irish rose and amazing pecan tart.
Wonderful live performances on a regular basis. Free wi-fi (always a bonus), board games, books/magazines to read and you can always have a conversation with staff members who are happy and relaxed like the customers(which to me shows a good employer). It's totally my home away from home, love it!

Was recommended by an acquaintance so I tried it but was disappointed. I was expecting coffee to be great but instead it was flat and lukewarm, the food was pretty average as well. I had their big breakfast and it was just a mess, the eggs tasted like they were cooked and left on the counter for about 1hr then partly reheated and served to me, the bread was tough, the beans were just terrible. I wouldn't recommend the cafe.

Went here for my birthday tonight with two other friends. The decor is adorable, it's a very cute and cosy place. We ordered 6 tapas between us, and they were all so great and very filling. I think the sirloin was undercooked, but most people would find it cooked well (I like my meat very well done) but it was still tasty regardless.
I strongly recommend the potato sofrito, sherry wild mushrooms and garlic/ manchego cheese bread. The sangria is very nice, but might be a little sweet for some depending on your tastes. Service was good, staff were friendly. Including drinks and churros for dessert, the bill ended up being $50 each (it adds up!). Strongly recommended and would love to return some day.

Just like the previous reviewer, better than GyG. They serve the true California burrito, all the fillings taste right and they can add the spicy salsa that many Aussies can't handle. Only drawback would be the price, $15 for the steak burrito, but hey you don't need to eat for another day or so! I hope they succeed in a pretty scruffy part of Surry Hills.

Having passed by Agave many times, we decided to give it a try Friday night and were not disappointed.
To start we had the Quesadilla's $15, the Chicken was good but the Lamb Borrego was fantastic. For main we both had the chicken Enchilada's $24 one came with a green salsa (verde) the other red (Rojas) the Verde was extremely hot but still very enjoyable.
The service was excellent and for $140 for 2 people including three Corona's and three glasses of wine, terrific value. We would happily dine at Agave again.

On a Tuesday night my bestie and I went to the Big Mexican Rancho to celebrate my godson's 11th birthday.
As a quick thought, knowing the restaurant had paper tableclothes I requested late Tuesday evening at 5pm that they write "Happy 11th Birthday Reece" on the table for him.
When we went into the restaurant they exceeded our expectations and went to the trouble of bubble writing out the message and colouring it in with different colours and patterns and filling in his name with some table scatter glitters. This absolutely made his night!
The service was welcoming and friendly and efficient. The food was brought out very quickly and tasted amazing as usual. I have been to this restaurant a handful of times over the years and have never walked away unsatisfied. The sizes are extremely generous and very tasty. I have experienced slow service on nights when the restaurant is at full capacity, however, I assure you it is worth the wait! I personally recommend the stuffed chillis, avocado salad and the chicken ranchero.
Later when it came time for cake they brought it out lit up, turned out the lights in the restaurant and involved all the patrons in singing happy birthday, completed with a sambrero placed on the birthday boy.
The staff were absolutely amazing and attentive and I will continue to go back to an amazing fun filled cheery restaurant.

Great location, pathetic food! Burritos were overpriced and you had to pay extra for condiments such as sour cream and salsa! There wasn't even a side salad or garnish! Terribly slow service too.

Pretty good food! been here twice, grant the first time was better than the second time. Pretty close to real deal mexican food though it has been Westernized a bit. Only downfall = service is Shocking. Waiters literally ignore you. So rude. Would only ever go back for the food and if I was in a good mood to tolerate bad staff.
