The food here is quite good, ordered the beef bulgogi and seafood pancake and both were really tasty. Went there on a wednesday night for a date and there was no wait time (at 6 pm) and the waiters were friendly. Would definitely go back again.
Recommended by a friend, went to Sydney Madang on a Saturday afternoon. Got a table outside without waiting and ordered the BBQ platter for 2 and the seafood pancake. The BBQ platter was great. Fresh prawns and mussels, and the meat tasty. When the BBQ became too smoky, they changed the grill.
Seafood pancake was nice and the servings are big! We were still hungry so we ordered the soft shell crab. This was the disappointing dish of the day. Looked liked it had been floured and fried within an inch of its life. No flavour at all, definitely needed some garlic, salt or chilli. Give the soft shell crab a miss.
Definitely will be going back, the menu is extensive and lots to try. Only thing is, the waiters struggled to communicate with us. Nice and pleasant but could not tell us what the sauces or condiments were. Oh well, we worked it out, but would have been nice to know what we were eating or dipping the meat into.
Came here with a friend for dinner, as expected there was a queue for a table (we waited around 30 minutes). The service is under the bridge as most staff have trouble understanding english but you don't come here for the service (you'll be stupid to), it is the food that attracts the masses.
I didn't want to smell of Korean bbq so opted to have cooked dishes instead (didn't help as the table next door was bbq-ing). Ordered the seafood pancake and the crispy soft shelled crab with a side salad for entrees followed with the fish roe hot soup and the original beef bulgogi for mains and we were quite content. The total payable at the end was not wallet-breaking so it was perfect.
Love this place. I do admit it is difficult communicating to some of the staff members but at the end of the day the food is excellent and its great value for money.
The best Korean BBQ I can find so far. They use mix charcoal and Gas. The place always busy, poor people who work there, must be very tiring. I been there many time, some time the waiter service is good, sometime they just ignoring you when you press the bell. The senior staff should read this review and improve their service and be more friendly. Anyway, I recommend this venue, may be if we smile first we will get good service, lol.
The senior staff was rude at us, really not friendly, just because we were mistaken at counting the people (we said for 6 people but apparently we needed 7 seats and he said "you should have told me the exact number. You should wait longer then." (with annoyed face), and we asked, "how long?" he answered, "I don't know. 20, 30 minutes even an hour." (still with annoyed and annoying face + voice tone at the same time).
So we waited for another 30 minutes (in total 50 minutes of waiting) the problem is he didn't smile at us, for anything's sake he's the senior staff. Come on. We can't be scolded like elementary students being scolded by their teacher like that. Staff forgot to close the fire with the black plate (which made our face hot and steamed) until we called them a few times.
The senior staff didn't even say thank you when we paid the bill, we were the ones who did. And we regret that we did. I'm working part time and I have to always make sure I have a good farewell to my customers by saying thankyou and 'have a good day'. Did that senior staff ever trained how to serve customers?
Good food + busy place + lame service (in this case lame senior staff) = disappointing.
Often hard to get into, and that itself is a sign of how popular this place is. Best seafood pancake in Sydney! Staff are efficient and friendly and there's a nice atmosphere.
I love this restaurant. First time I went there it impressed me with the food. It's very nice, the best korean restaurant, the staff was so kindly serve, will go back for sure.
Tempted to try this place out after reading delicious reviews of it and it did not disappoint me. I guess great food is worth the wait as me and my bf waited for a good 45 minutes! Staff was great contrary to what most had commented. I guess if you request with a smile, you'll just get it back in return. For pictures of the chow down galore go to www.foodphotograph.blogspot.com
