We often eat here and love it. Love the salmon and avocado sushi. The food is always fresh, delicious and fast. Service is very attentive and they always make us feel welcome with our toddler in tow. Specials board is worth considering as it is normally great value for money, especially the teriyaki salmon (although be aware it has bones). Sushi-Ya is a great choice for lunch, dinner or takeaway
gets busy after 7 pm so book ahead.
Great local neighbourhood eatery representing good value for money. The raw fish sushi and sashimi are fresh and very good. However, if you are familiar with traditional Japanese food, you may find the very substantial portions and large sushi rolls a little off-putting. If so, stick with the raw fish sushi & sashimi. Otherwise, great value for money.
This is a great local restaurant. The sushi is delicious and the servings very ample. Excellent value for money. If you have room, go for the ice creams, they are tops!
A friend of mine proudly acclaimed she'd found a sushi restaurant that would knock my socks off & she wasn't wrong. Every time I go here I discover a new favourite.
It's a bit more contemporary than a lot of sushi cafes around, which is refreshing. I highly recommend the katsu but the dish that made me a devotee was the scallops tetaki. Exceptionally good presentation.
Sushiya is a fabulous local diner. It has a lovely al fresco ambience, friendly and fast service, and delish food. It's mostly busy, so it would pay to book. I highly recommend the seaweed salad for beautiful textures and taste. Value is good overall, but the edamame beans serving is small for the price. They do takeaway, so you can order tomorrow's lunch as you're eating your dinner. Sushiya is our favourite local restaurant.
I had the miso soup + sushi + tempura soba combination set ($16). Not thrilled with the tempura soba - the soba was cooked too soft and the dashi was a little bland. Also, the tempura batter was curiously stiff rather than light and fluffy, the way tempura batter should be. The sushi fared much better, and while not spectacular, the fish quality was decent and presentation was neat, though I don't know why anyone would need a tablespoon's worth of wasabi for five pieces of sushi! Good value for vanilla Japanese food.
Wait staff were friendly and efficient. Minor quibble: If you are going to serve the sushi and soba at different times, the sushi should be served first. To respond to someone's concerns about the outside area in rain: I was there on a rainy day, and they pull down clear plastic blinds that completely surround the deck area so you're fine.
