I like the deep-fried gyoza here (authentic flavours) and the soft-shell crab was excellent. Language problems can make for some fun exchanges, my dad wanted a fork but they insisted they didn't have any pork today. Hand gestures help. This is a pay up front place, so no wriggle room for finicky customers. The miso soup here is just right and charmingly authentic service crockery makes up for the cafe ambience. Try the sashimi boat for 4 or a simple sushi take-away. Lunch box specials really are worth it, too.

Great food here, very fresh and super tasty! The decor is a fair bit lacking, but it's certainly made up for with the friendly service and value for money! It's set up like a small cafe, but packs a punch with the quality of the food! It was the 1st time I've ever been there and will be going back in the future.

Sushi Yah is a family favorite and we go here all the time. The sushi is lovely and so are the people there though there are some language barriers with some staff.
Try the agedashi tofu if you're vegetarian (like myself) and the udon noodles are superb. Prices are pretty good depending on what you get, bento boxes appear to be very filling and of good value.

We go here regularly in the evening after exercising, and it's one of my favourite places for a quick, cheap meal. The service is cheery (although as noted by others there are some language issues), food is always super fresh and quick to come out. Their bento boxes are great value and very filling. I would recommend this place for a quick, no-fuss meal. Yum!

We had sushi take away. There isn't really anything that we could complain about. The staff were friendly and were happy to make fresh California rolls for us that excluded mayonnaise. The ratio of rice to fish was normally what you would expect, the fish was a good size and fresh. We order kingfish as well, but they did not have any at that time. We had salmon and tuna that evening. Price was reasonable. I will return but the sushi does not stand out.

Occasionally drop in for some take away. Really good value and genuine Japanese food. Hard to find in this general area.

This restaurant is noteworthy for its very generous servings. However, I think sometimes when the fish/rice ratio is so heavy on the fish it kind of ruins it a bit.
The salmon rolls are delicious, made inside out and rolled in sesame seeds.

This a great place to get fresh, great tasting sushi. The place is not much to look at, but I am sure that is why the prices are so reasonable. The staff are always polite considering language barriers. I have honestly never had a bad meal from Sushi Yah.

We gave this place a go for takeway based on some positive reviews. What you order really determines your view on the place. The sashimi, rice and salad was delicious but the rest of the meals were disappointing. The vegetable tempura batter was really thick and very oily, the teriyaki and tonkatsu chicken were only for those that have a really sweet tooth. (too sweet for us). We will go back to this place again but stick with the sashimi and sushi.
