My fave Japanese on the North Shore. And so cheap! Recommend: Gyoza (fried dumplings), Beef Teriyaki gorgeous subtle flavours that melt in your mouth, Creamy Roll sushi (potato croquettes, lettuce, mayo), Beef Teriyaki sushi. Best sushi I've ever eaten, served on beautiful long thin platters.
Decor is very average, but the food keeps this restaurant consistently packed to the rafters. Hence, they recently opened up the back half of the restaurant to accommodate more customers. Unfortunately, this area houses the toilets so people come back and forth and on the wall is a huge ugly heating ventilator. Book ahead for a table in the main area of the restaurant, highly recommended.

Simple small restaurant (more lunch than dinner place) with good quality Japanese food (the place is always full of Japanese people, witch says something about the authenticity of food) Love sashimi and soft shell crab salad and the rest ;)
Great Japanese food, good value (considering most portions are fairly large). Good for when you want good quality sushi/udon, it also caters for those who aren't so keen on eating fish. Always a winner.
Great restaurant. Full of Japanese. Oftern need to book for eat in. Quick, substantial serves, quality is very good, good variery of dishes, presentation good. Some waiters struggle with English. Handrolls served on an 18 inch platter (both eat-in and takeaway) present very well. It's a regular for our family with a 6yo and 12yo.
I have been to so many busy restaurants, this one has the worst service. They wanted us to finish by 7.30 pm at time I made booking. At 7.18 pm, we found our bill on the table just after we ordered one more dish. Then one waitress told us to finish by 7.30 pm. That was awful feeling. We had to rush with our last dish before they kick us out. Another time, they cancelled my booking because we were a few minutes late. We ended up pushing our stroller through to the back lane.
I love sitting outside in the verandah area, even though you sit on the train line it is a nice area through lunch times. Food was great and worth every penny, servings are just right and the dishes are great to share. I can't wait to try everything on the menu!
Ate here for mum's birthday, coincidentally someone has sat on our table as the people sitting on our table thought it was booked when their friend hadn't booked it! Waiters asked if we minded to sit upstairs in a private room, we said ok, as we didn't want the people to move as they already sat down and started drinking their drinks. Service was good, food came out quite quickly and was very fresh.
This place is great for tasty Japanese food and awesome value. Cheap and big meals. Good for groups of people. Sometimes service is a little lacking but overall great place for a feed.
