Very good place for cheap Japanese food. There is little or no service at this place. Be prepared to wait even though you have made the booking as they give tables away if you are not on time. Patrons queue for long periods of time just for the cheap Japanese food. Lack of authenticity and taste. Good value.

It's a real shame that customer service means nothing at Sushi Suma. Don't bother to make booking as you still have to wait till way beyond the booking time.

I have been a regular in the past 4 years and it's getting worst. The language is an issue for all the wait staff. Again, it is a real shame.

I first discovered this restaurant in 1999. The food never has never disappointed me. Since the move to the newly renovated restaurant, it has made it an even more pleasant experience.

Let's face it, you don't dine here specifically for the service or the ambience. Once you get a table, the service is speedy. The ambience, is much improved in the new place. Go for the dinner set, it's great value and you just simply can't beat it for taste as well. The sushi and sashimi are both always fresh and all of the hot food is exceptional. I'll keep coming back here, absolutely!

You need to have a plenty of time to enjoy this place - meaning " you could be waiting for a table or waiting to be served. " But when it comes to the serving size, its massive. Presentation of food needs a little help.

Value of money. I have working for a number of japanese restaurants for the past 8 years and believe me, you want value for money, this is the place for it. Carparking is a little of a hassle. So if you want cheap and massive servings of Japanese food and have lots of time to spare. This is the place.

I remember my first time dinning in this restaurant was about 5 years ago, around 2001, when it was still at the old shop.

Food - Food was delicious and large servings. However, it's not the case any more. The food is below average if you are familiar with Japanese food, however Tempura is a little bit better than outside.

Ambience - althought they have moved to a new larger shop, it is still too small with the way they set up the shop, it is way too crowded and I dont want to stay any longer after i finish, do not bring your gf there, its just not the place for it.

Service - its as bad as it could get, although they gave me a complementary Tofu due to their incorrect order.

Value - servings are still bigger than what you get outside, however the price you pay isnt cheap. Around $16 for a normal below average Japanese dinner, I wouldnt say its really good value for money, i would rather say, its average.

There are a lot of other better Japanese Restaurant out there that you could try under $20pp.

Favourite Japanese in Sydney. You get massive servings of super fresh sushimi at such an affordable price. Sure you have to wait at times but its worth it. You're not going to like it if you're a service nut or yearn for spacious tables etc. You're there for the food in a place like this. I've actually grown to really like the lack of services etc - it adds to it for me.

This is the one place that really offers value for money. Food servings is massive and the set menu gets you sushi or sashimi at unbelievably low price. The catch is to book before hand and that will get you straight to the front row of the queue outside the restaurant (well, if you get lucky it'll get you straight to the table, yes I still believe that one day it's gonna happen). On weekday, without reservation, you're lucky if they tell you it's gonna be 30 mins wait. Not many menu variations but I can tell you don't worry about picking which to order 'cos they're all good. Been there, tried it all!

This place is such good value, lunch is always packed because it's quite small and the food is always yumo! Don't expect too much service though because they get really busy.

As everyone else mentions, service is absolutely awful. Didn't even soften a tiny bit when my partner and I spoke Japanese - he's Japanese, I lived there for several years. We were ordered to wait on the footpath despite having a reservation and were hassled to decide and order before even being seated inside (we waited until we were at our table before really seriously looking at the menu).

The food ranged from well below average and inauthentic (yakitori) to reasonable (sushi) to just like what you would get in a similarly cheap and hectic joint in Japan (Seaweed salad, tempura). For $60 for 4 no big complaints. Also no tip left for the staff!
