Visited Sushi Masa for a Sunday lunch and was happy to have found this place. Both my wife (japanese) and I had the sashimi lunch set and although they had a deal that the set was $10, the usual price of $15 still would be great value for the quality of the food. The sashimi was the freshest I've eaten outside of Japan (well, in Sydney at least) and the dressing on the salad was a treat for the taste buds. I actually wanted to drink the left over dressing from the bowl after the salad was finished. And to get Agedashi tofu with the set was another thing that impressed both of us.
The service was prompt and typical Japanese, very friendly and helpful with a smile. All in all, a great place, with great food and we'll be sure to return to try some other dishes.
Sushi Masa is a great little find just off Pyrmont Bridge Road in Camperdown. The Sushi is fantastic and the specials always impress. We regularly have take out and dine in at Sushi Masa. BYO which is great but they also have a fabulous selection of wines.
Sushi Masa is a neat little joint boasting an impressive standard at genuine value. The Special Lunchtime set (available only Saturdays and Sundays), is almost quintessential Japanese, but for the lack of a dessert. The salad plate was delicious as was the Agedashi Tofu and vibrant, melt-in-the-mouth sushi and sashimi. The Miso soup was slightly disappointing in that it lacked dashi flavour.
The decor is typical Japanese in its simplicity and tastefulness. Service is again culturally representative which means ‘polite and efficient’ without any forays into wasteful discourse. So, you're very unlikely to get a response as to “how’s your mother’s chooks?”. The non-invasive, soothing music is a nice touch.
Great ambience to this fab little Japanese eating house. The food is fresh and beautifully prepared. The busy takeaway service shows this place is a winner. There were people waiting for a table inside on this fresh Autume evening. We will definitely be going back and taking our friends.
My partner and I have visited the restaurant twice and both times have be very pleased with the friendly service, delicious fresh food and pleasant ambience. The spider soft shell crab sushi rolls are our favourite. Highly recommended.
Yum Yum Yum! This is one of my favourite sushi bars in Sydney! The food is fabulous and fresh, the portions are generous, the waitstaff are friendly and helpful and the value is incredible! I've been here a few times with many different people, and everyone always loves it! It's delicious, yummy and you walk away content with life!
The sushi is fresh, and it's clear that they are serious about buying their fish daily and first grade. I'd rate it as being almost as good as the Tsukiji Fish markets (Really!). Everything I've tried here has been fabulous, and have not yet had one bad meal. One thing I highly recommend apart from the chef's special mixed plate, is definitely the grilled eggplant!
I'd recommend this restaurant one hundred times over! Go there and try it out, it would be impossible to be disappointed!

Completely agree with below. My wife (japanese) and I frequent here quite a bit as it is just a short walk. The tempura is well done (hard to find that at other middle range places). Masa prepares great sushi! spider rolls are a must. Had my first lunch menu on the weekend. $15.50 set menu, agedashi tofu, salad, chicken katsu (well sized), miso soup. I had no room for the dessert! not too fancy yet not too cheap, so happy Masa opened up there!
This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Sydney! The sushi is amazing! The freshest and most delicious you will find anywhere, each piece is a handcrafted gift from a great sushi chef!. Great place my wife is Japanese and she loves this place, haven't tried much of the hot menu but what we have has been excellent, we just find it impossible not to order the sushi! The choc brulee is also fantastic.
