Just popped in for a quick bite to eat after seeing an ad in the local paper. Wasn't looking for a heavy lunch so I ordered a chicken baguette on Sonoma, the owner suggested I try the ham baguette as his wife does something special with the ham.

Wow it was sensational, possibly the most flavoursome, moist and tender ham I've eaten apart from some my Dad used to cook. The Sonoma baguette was great as well and the salad fresh and beautiful tomatoes.

I tried a piccolo latte (they use Coffee Alchemy coffee) and it was as good as any coffee I've had at Coffee Alchemy in Marrickville.

I can't wait to try the New Orleans Gumbo and Jambalaya when I'm up for it or one of the fantastic looking sweet treats in the display cabinet.

A cute little cafe in the hub of Balmain. Have been here twice as a post dinner treat for some dessert and coffee.

First time ordered the chocolate mousse which was a little too rich and could not finish it. Although the second visit my fiance and I shared the banana split. Let's just say its a good thing we shared it because it was huge. Head's turned in the cafe as it brought to us but we had no problem demolishing it.

Waitstaff are friendly and there are a few gluten free options available (I'm a Coeliac) which is also a bonus. Prices are a little steep for some of the items on the menu.

Lil Neecy and I made the trip over the anzac bridge with a few friends for brunch come lunch here recently. We came here primarily for the new orleans style meals on offer and were not disappointed. Yes like others we also tasted their beignets too. Their coffees, although not the best I've tasted are way better than average but one of our group raved about the hot chocolate.

The cafe is small (approx 30 seats) but is fresh and very pleasant particularly with the 60's and 70's music playing. Service was very friendly. Its worth a return visit to try some other meals.

My wife and I thought we may have finally found a decent cafe serving great desserts and coffee... unfortunately we came away very disappointed. Had to return 3 forks, all had food stuck to them. I ordered the 'flourless souffle'. It was a round dry chocolate cake heated in the microwave for 15secs. When I informed the staff that the menu was false advertising, we were informed that their suppliers call it a souffle, and after all, there are many types of souffles. How disappointing.

I'm in love with beignets, and you'll only (apparently) find them in Sydney if you visit Sucre. Dipped in sugar free thick, hot Spanish-style chocolate (the house special), it's an irresistible combination. The one time I didn't feel like beignets I had the mini lemon tart--good--and the chocolate-dipped orange slice--so yummy. The coffee is okay, but then I've only had it once. If I'm at Sucre it's almost criminal not to order the house special.

(A tip for frequent visitors: Sucre's Facebook page occasionally posts online specials and they're very good value compared to the normal price.)

I have been there a couple of times, the chocolate is nice, finally an European style hot chocolate instead of only milk and cocoa powder, just a bit overpriced like the all the desserts on the menu and in the displays. The service has been weird both times, waitstaff overly attentive at the start but much less after we ordered. Did anybody else see the spelling mistakes on the board?

This place was an awesome experience! The staff were very friendly and offered me soo many taste tests to help me decide what I wanted. I would recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth!

Truly the most overpriced and undrinkable coffee in Sydney. And accompanied by a cold, overly sweet chocolate eclair. Concept is great but the execution really needs work.

Great little cafe/pattisserie. We came in on a sunday after lunch and they were flat out. Its only small and being very busy they done well to get us served and get our desserts out in quick time. If you have a sweet tooth they have a huge array of takeaway or ordered sweets. Overall for something sweet this place will definitely satisfy!

Absolutely amazing! So far ahead of the competition it isn't funny, a really new and original take on a Chocolate Cafe!

Customer service was perfect - staff are well groomed, well trained and extremely helpful and polite. Food is to die for, I especially recommend their French Beignets and sugar-free hot chocolate, yum!

Coffee here is also worth mentioning - surprisingly (and coming from a local) I think it has the best coffee in Balmain! You would be stupid not to give this a try, it is fast becoming my local favourite!
