Insanely awesome little venue! Great underground location, brilliant staff, the food is incredible (love the complimentary olive bread), creme brulee was one of the best I have ever had. Only complaint was drinks overpriced but value of food made up for it!

What a great spot for a small group of friends after work to have a lovely glass of wine and some delicious tapas. I loved the vibe, the company and the wine list is quite extensive and surprisingly not overpriced. There were 5 of us and we ordered a few of the entree size tapas which was more than enough food. The only thing that I would miss out on next time is the paella, compared to the rest of the food this was a little below expectation.
I can’t rave about it enough and will definitely be heading back to Sub Solo especially during the cooler months.

What a fantastic addition for the Sydney scene! As others have pointed out, nothing is too much trouble at all for this place and the food lives up to the service. Great space and very warm with atmosphere! something rare for Sydney! brilliant. Highly recommend it, but you have to have the meat swords, it's a speciality and it is fabulous!

We threw our Xmas Party at Subsolo and booked the place out. Firstly the organisation was fabulous. Nothing was too much trouble. Everyone was looked after and we all had a blast. Great space with wonderful staff and an incredible vibe. My friends and I can't wait to make it our regular hang-out for afterwork drinks and tapas in 2009. Worth trying it out, easy to get hooked.

A very capable restaurant, intimate and the food is quite sumptuous, just a little overpriced if you go a la carte. My friend and I had three tapas-sized entrees (all delicious, the meatballs and the chorizo being of special note), two espetadas, and two desserts and having the brulee performed at the table by the elegant hostess was indeed a treat and the brulee itself (crema catalana, if I recall correctly), came together perfectly.
This was a satisfying meal, both in terms of volume and in providing memorable taste sensations. Alas, it also came to a little less than $140! without anything other than tap water being served. The staff were very attentive and polished, though our waitress's quip that she could remember the order without writing it down backfired slightly when the wrong espetada came out from the kitchen ... Otherwise, a good night, but left thinking that the degustation presented better value. Might be back.

I absolutely love this place! I came here with a girlfriend on a Friday night and did not find it noisy at all. The night was flawless from beginning to end. Our waitress wasn't over the top, but just enough. She made some great suggestions from the menu and the cocktails were divine! Try the one with pomegranite liquour and the one with apples and cinnamon.
We like to splurge at dinner but found ourselves so full on 4 small tapas plates and 1 beef skewer between the two of us. Oh and the decor is fantastic. I love the whole underground theme. Great job! Will definitely be back!

Tonite we had a degustation #2 at Subsolo. Its the 3rd time I have been there, twice for drinks and tonite for the piece da ristance! The variety of tasting plates and great service was truly fab. I found everyone to be super friendly who came near us and reckon the value was 10 times as good as most other taps joints I've been, seeing its in a gorgeous setting and you can actually book a table and have it ready when you show up.
I can understand why the last review I just read had the lady with her knickers in a knot as the place shares its entrance with another restaurant. Lighten up love! well done Subsolo, see you next time we need a tapas fix!

My friends and I have never experienced such rude service. From the initial curt query "Are you sure you have the right restaurant?!" because my friends had not yet arrived to the repeated instance that we had been given a wine menu (it looks the same as the food menu) despite the fact we had checked all the menus on our table and had already asked for a wine menu three times.
There was a horrified and angry reaction when an additional person arrived, despite the fact that there was more than enough room on the table to accommodate one more person, the restaurant was nearly empty and you would think that an additional person ordering food would be a good thing.
I can understand one staff member being in a bad mood but more than one is certainly enough to ruin a pleasant dining experience. I am patient when it comes to slow service but rude, angry and an attitude of "I'm doing you a favour" is just bizarre. Not to tar everyone with the same brush, the barman who served us our drinks was very friendly and polite.
It is a shame because the restaurant space and decor is lovely and the food was very good. It is close to work and were it not for the rude service, we would have gone back.

The first few minutes are the best, then its all down hill from there. Great decor and setting, exceptional toilets. Really noisy crowd on the night, so bring ear plugs. As for the food, nothing spectacular, small servings and over priced. Nothing to make you want to return. And most of all, I'm not a fussy eater.

Absolutely fantastic. In line with human nature, I'm rarely inspired to add a positive comment about a restaurant on eatability, and will only post a truly awful experience.
However, this was just beautiful, and an amazing place to take my wife for her birthday. The food is beautifully prepared and presented wonderfully. The ambience is great, something original for Sydney, a 5 star restaurant but with a touch of character, yes like the New York bars I have been to. Service is just wonderful, reminiscent of what we used to aim to offer when I worked at the Park Hyatt, but executed better for much lower prices! Nice cocktails, reasonable vegetarian selection, and all round a great experience.
I cannot fathom how this restaurant has the same eatability score as Spanish Terrazas, one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had in Sydney, possibly ever! Do yourselves a favour, spend the extra $5 a head (or less!) and go to Subsolo.
