So much hype that just didn't deliver. There are much better Spanish options for a lot less around Sydney.

Not impressed. The service was the only thing that kept me from writing this on my iphone as the restaurant itself. My food wasn't worth what I paid and the place was too dark. Turn up the lights and the flavour while you are at it.

I decided to bring a friend along to Subsolo since they had a variety of tapas and since I love trying a variety of food I thought this was a nice venue with a reasonably priced menu. I was not dissapointed, eventhough we were late for our 6.30 booking they kindly asked if we'd prefer to sit in the bar area which allowed us to stay as long as we wanted instead of 8pm which is their 2nd seating. Once seated a gentlemen behind the bar promptly came over and poured two cups of ice water and asked if we'd like some olives.
We kindly accepted the offer and whilst devouring the olives we chose our tapas for the night. The tapas came out at the right intervals and a decent size. The flavours were on par with my other favorite Spanish restaurant, Encasa, however the presentation here is above any other spanish place in Sydney. All dishes were cooked to perfection except for the prawns which was slightly salty but the sauce which complemented it offset the saltiness. The waiters were attentive and helpful and even gave us a complementary glass of Sherry with our dessert. I'll definitely be back and looking forward to trying the skewers and paella next time.

Food is great, great proportion considering for tapas! However Sangria is expensive what normally $20-$15 1 liter is 1 glass here and since the glass is fruits there is not as much liquid. But it is a very gourmet sangria comparing those 1 liter, it’s just like a food salad with red wine lol. Anyway personally I still prefer the inexpensive sweet soft drink like sangria version. So other than the drink a bit of a rip off its a great place!

The food was delicious, the tapas of garlic prawns were yum and prawns were huge, ceviche not bad, pork belly awesome and chorizo would have liked spicier which they were on the skewer. Would have liked more black pudding on the mixed skewer. A little over priced but the bad thing was the loud dance music which felt like you were at the Establishment in the 90's and the service is a little poor as it is hard to get grumpy waiters attention (there were 3 waiters btw).

Very disappointing experience overall. The food was not up to standard and definitely was not worth the high prices for each dish. The ambience reminded me too much of a nightclub and it was so dark in the restaurant. They should really lay off the dim lighting effect. I would not recommend this restaurant if you're looking for good spanish food.

Went to Subsolo last night and even though it was Friday night and very busy the service was friendly and attentive. Food was just ok with each of our Tapas dishes having something not quite right. Either the condiment, cooking or the produce. At the price I'd expect each dish to have a 'wow' factor - which they didnt. The restaurant is pleasant enough for a Sangria and Tapas. Suitable date venue I think. I'd go back to try the Paella.

Beautiful restaurant with well priced food, however, let down by poor service from rude wait staff. Hopefully we caught the staff on a bad night as they cannot continue to operate in this fashion and keep their doors open.

Awesome! We went as a group of 4 before the Jersey Boys and enjoyed the food and friendly staff. We ended up back there after the show and had the best churros ever. Great find and will be going back. The decor is amazing.

Do not come here. Unless you place ambience highly on your dining priorities.
I came here as a group of 12. When I made the reservation, I was told we could have our own private section, when we arrived we sat in the middle of the venue which was loud and very noisy.
Service was appalling. It took a long time to wave down a waiter and food took a while to come out. My friend had to ask 3 different waiters for his drink.
Be aware! They charge 10% service without disclosing it on the website nor menu. The food was very mediocre, you can find better Spanish restaurants with tastier food and better value such as Miro and Encasa. Those places were booked out so I had to resort to Subsolo.
Postales (at No1 Martin Place) has 8% service charge for groups of 10+ but atleast they disclose it. If I knew Subsolo would charge 10%, I would have went somewhere else instead.
