I've passed by this place so many times, on my way to Cafe Ish, or the Wall Cafe, or Toast. No longer. If the other dishes are as good as my chorizo, bean and shrimp hotpot (called a salad, but it wasn't really), I'll be back. And the cashier-guy smiled and said such a sincere thanks when taking payment, it made my day a little better.
My partner and I stumbled across Strawberry X early one Saturday morning and were enticed in by the warm, inviting atmosphere and decor. We were so pleased that we ventured inside, as the waiter was fantastic and super friendly, and we greatly enjoyed our breakfast and delicious coffees. Will definitely be back.
The staff at strawberry are great, Rex loves a chat and Chef Tracey always comes out to say hi. Lena their barista is the best amazing, she makes agreat coffee always lovely to talk to and not to bad on the eye also. Their food is excellent and I wouldn't go anywhere else in the area. Do yourself a favour and visit Strawberry X if you haven't done so already.
We had a nice hour there the other weekend. A little hung over so the quiet atmosphere was nice whilst we read the papers. We really enjoyed the food and the service was fine. Not a stand out but very solid. We'll be back.
Went here midweek for lunch with a pram, staff were super friendly and rushed over to help me navigate the two low steps. I recommend their warm beef sandwich. Delicious. The fish and chips though were very stingy on the fish though.
Very friendly staff with a nice inviting space with different seating arrangements from couches to large tables (great for reading the paper and big groups) to intimate little tables and booth like seating.
I didn't notice the specials board, and I wish I had. My salad was spiked with coriander, which I dislike, so it was unpleasant for me, but that's just me. The coffee was pretty terrible.
However, the service was great. I asked if they had a strawberry tart and the waiter said they didn't have any at the moment, then said he'd check out back and see if he could find one. To our delight, he came back out with a delicious strawberry tart with chocolate sauce. If I come back again, it will be for a strawberry tart and a hot chocolate, which the waiter assured me is divine.
Great cafe in Surry Hills. Their spicy bean and lentil soup is my favourite. The service is spot on and always friendly. Can get busy at lunch time but that is just a reflection on how fabulous it is. Top value for such a great cafe!
The waiter was really nice and friendly. The atmosphere was really relaxed and cosy. I ordered the Spanish eggs, which the waiter complimented on my choice, and it was finger-licking good... if it was a finger food. But, it wasn't so, I was able to behave myself. Will definitely be going back there if I'm in the area.
If you want good service, great food and excellent coffee look no further! Chef, Ms Strawberry, adds her own personal Yorkshire touch to her dishes. Lamb Shanks are to die for, as are the Beef Steak Pies with Mash and Mushie Peas.
Mr X, AKA Rex Hatton is such a lovely man. Go there once and you become a welcome friend forever and the staff could not ask for better!!!!
Good service, friendly owner and nice food depending what have. Once I ordered the risotto and it was watery, but this could have been an isolated incident. I must admit I do rate restaurants on whether they can produce a decent risotto.
Also, I hope they have signed up for Amex because it helps with client lunches.
