Not being from the area we thought we would try it as it was close to the beach. Service was spot on and the food was very, very good. Would gladly go back again. Wasn't hard on the wallet and the location is very pleasant.
Went here with a couple of my friends last weekend for lunch. We decided to get 4 entrees to share, as they were $15 each and mains were $30 each. The food was quite good, but the portion sizes were riduculous. For 15 bucks we got 2 tiny lamb koftas with a bit of yoghurt sauce! I wonder what you would get for $30, 4?? Very overpriced!
I went here for breakfast on Sunday morning with a group of 8. The service was prompt and friendly and my meal was delicious. My boyfriend and I shared the Eggs Benedict and the Corn Fritters. I had a banana smoothie which was yummy as well.
I would definitely eat here again for breakfast! I've never had an evening meal here so I can't comment on that...
Overall my whole dining experience was well below what I had expected. Service was ok with the young girl trying hard. But she just seemed clueless and oblivious to what was going on in the restaurant. As for the food, well that was where my real problems lie. I went there with the idea that I don't mind paying a little extra as its a special occasion and I wanted my partner to enjoy herself. But for the price I paid and what I got, there was no fair comparison.
The fish was very undercooked and swimming in sauce and the steaks were tough and over cooked. Qty was smaller than ever before. We left there still hungry even after 3 courses and with a big hole in my pocket. Very disappointing, I just hope that this was a bad night for Stonefish, and normally they are much better.
Went here Saturday night with a group of 8. Overall service, food and ambience was great but I have to say the meals are overpriced for what they are. You're really paying for the location of the restaurant and ocean view.
If you are going to place a big banner out the front that says " special $20 for a meal and a glass of wine" then you need to tell people if it is an entree. We ordered our "special" at 2 pm as a late lunch to not spoil dinner. My husband was given 2 skewer kebabs, smaller than you would find in your butcher or supermarket on top of a bed of lettuce and I was served a very small portion of calamari on top of loads of lettuce.
When I asked why the dishes were so small, I was told and I quote "what do you expect for $20, it is supposed to be an entree". If that is the attitude then I will be happy to spend an extra ten for the greeek yum cha or walk up the road for a more fullfilling chicken roll from the bread shop. Since we eat out a few times a week I really have a problem with restaurants that try to roll people in the door under false expectations.
If you are going to serve up an entree for $20 with a glass of wine then Guess What!!! That is not a special, that is Standard, and please, change your sign to say Entree not Meal, big difference. Won't be back, one of two of the worst restaurants in Sydney for, Service, Food, Attitude and value, don't get too excited over getting a cold drink at that, they must keep the "special" wine out the back somewhere.
We have been to this restaurant quite some time ago but after visiting just recently, I have to say that the standard of food has dropped considerably. The service was good. Great location. Unfortunately the menu has no mouth watering factor about it and the meals were served just warm. Way over priced for the quality of food served. It is likely that we will not be returning.
