Friends who are Avalon locals took us to Starfish on Sat nite. The freshness of the seafood was second to none. The crab dumpling soup and steamed balmain bugs were juicy, flavoursome and perfectly presented. My partner had the Wagyu steak which was an enormous serve, once again beautifully presented. Service may have been a tad slow but easily forgiven for the quality of the meals. $270 for 4, entree/main each and fabulous as we could byo. Will definite visit there again with or without our Avalon locals! Well done.

Starfish is fabulous. It comfortably competes with any quality restaurant in the CBD. To find a place like this on the Northern Beaches is a real treat. It has become my favourite restaurant and I'm happy to drive 30 minutes to get there. Consistently good on all five occasions I have visited. Loved the Asian Omelette starter and the Wagyu Pepper Steak. My husband adores the bone marrow special but you might need to ask for it when you book. Great chunky chips. Salt and pepper bugs were also very tasty.

Desserts like pannacotta and sticky date were delicious. Meal sizes are hearty. Service is friendly and accommodating. The place could do with warming up in winter as it can be breezy. Always book as the secret is getting out about this terrific restaurant.

Perfect place for lunch in Avalon. Recommendations for the Bang Bang chicken salad and the fish cakes, both superb! Also the kids menu was great my daughter loved the grilled fish.

First visited some 2 years ago and were quite disappointed with some aspects of the food, but primarily the poor service. Have since been back twice and have enjoyed both occasions immensely. Food quality was high, service was great, will come back!

Been for brekkie a couple of times. The foods ok, but they could serve larger portions for the prices they charge.

Great, fresh ingredients, Worth a try! I heard lots of good comments from people around me about Starfish for years, and finally I went to have dinner with my friend! I was surprise that all the table were taken even on wednesday night. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

We had quite a few dishes, all good, my favorite was the Beef carpaccio. It was one of the best beef carpaccio around. Also all the ingredients are good quality and the chef's cooking skills brought out the best of the ingredients. The meal was worth every penny!

Great food but wine list is lazy and needs some inspiration to match serious food quality. Redeemed by byo but still can do better with list. This place is seriously good for a local restaurant.

Great food, and service was excellent. However, I was quite worried to find a stray peanut on my plate after having told the staff that one in our group had a severe peanut allergy, and after having been reassured that that was not an issue at all!
I called the restaurant a few days later, to check if the oversight was on my part (not reading the menu correctly, although I normally check for peanuts when going out for dinner with my friend) or theirs and was told that the dish I ordered should not have had any peanuts in it. When I told them their mistake could've ended badly (anaphylactic shock/death) all I got was a: 'I'll check with the staff and will let them know'.....?
