Big fan of Ormeggio , go there instead ! Nice enough space , although you still know your in a shopping centre , biggest disappointment was the slow roasted lamb , extremely small portion $37.00 and at least 30% gristle, and no comment by wait staff when they saw it left on the plate . Slow roast pork was good , but also very small 2 small circles , also $37.00 .

We came in just before Christmas with my two friends. It was Sunday lunch.
I had mozzarella and tomato salad to start with (light and really delicious).
For my main I had tenderloin ( perfectly cooked to my liking). We have ordered rocket salad and roasted pumpkin with honey and hazelnuts to share. This was the best pumpkin I have ever had!
As a dessert we still managed to squeeze a passionfruit pannacotta in- the perfect ending to our Sunday lunch.
Wait staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, cocktails and wine also dint dissapoint.
We left full and happy.
My partner has also visited for breakfast and said that the scrambled eggs were amazing. When we try to have breakfast elsewhere, he always says that the eggs aren't as good as in Spiedo...
We have already booked our next visit and really looking forward to it.

From reading other reviews it must really depend on what you order, cos I had lunch here with a girlfriend and we were really happy, it's probably going to be our new city 'meeting spot'!
For starters we had prosciutto, which was so soft and melt in your mouth. It came wrapped around what I think must have been house-made breadsticks. Simple but oh so good. I am still telling people about that prosciutto haha. For main I had a pasta with a slow-cooked meat ragu ... ox, I think? Anyway, my friend ordered the snails and we shared, both were great! But dessert was the highlight for me. Deconstructed tiramisu - Oh Yeah! Just thinking about those dishes now is making me want to go back and order the same things.
Service was good, but we got lucky with our waiter I think, he was really knowledgeable and gave really good service, but I noticed the table next to us had a girl who didn't seem to tell them much. Also a bit hard to find, easy once you know but you have to know which lift to take otherwise you have to go through the foodcourt.

I visited on a recent trip to Sydney post-Christmas, (after reading the review that day in the December Qantas magazine on the flight down from Brisbane). There are so many great dining experiences to be had in Sydney, but, unfortunately, this was not to be one of them.
I noticed the two and three course lunch special and chose to have two. Entree was "Gnocchi Asparagi e Ricotta" - the gnocchi were small but reasonably cooked, but the sauce was much too salty and "wet", such that the asparagus and pine nut couldn't be tasted. The waiter also didn't say anything when more than half the dish was left uneaten either.
Main was their "famous" Bresciano, slow roasted spit of pork rib, pork neck, duck and chicken (the review had mentioned quail instead of chicken). I recognised the pork and chicken but for the life of me could not recognise anything like duck. I asked, and a chunk was pointed out to me, but it sure tasted like pork to me! The accompanying polenta was well cooked, but bland.
To top it off, they charged me $55 instead of the advertised $49 for the set menu, when challenged said they forgot to adjust from the Public Holiday rate the day before. I wonder how many customers just paid the higher rate? Certainly not "fine dining", but a step up from the food court. Hope they improve.

Went there for a quick pre-theatre dinner, and it really wasn't at all inspiring. Possibly part of the problem was that our first two choices at Westfield were both packed with people waiting, while Spiedo's was maybe half-full, always a bad sign.
In any event, we ordered a yabbie ravioli dish and veal and pork cassoncelli. What's casoncelli, we didn't know either, but liked the name. Out came some gnocchi, which was pleasant enough, except it turned out to be, well, the gnocchi, and not the casoncelli, guess we'll never know what it is. As for the yabbie dish, too much salt, and not much more to say besides that.
In all, there are better Italian restaurants in the CBD, especially given the high prices of this one.

This is my oasis away from the hoards in Westfield Sydney. I'm there every Saturday at lunchtime and love it. It's classy, professional, and spot on with its food. The owner is a great guy and the wait staff are all extremely good and friendly.
So far I've tried the cheese platter (cheeses I've never seen before with calabrian flat bread!), pasta (I'm not even into pasta but these guys understand that simplicity and quality in the sauce and using it sparingly is the key, add that on to the hand made pasta and even I love it), Kingfish (perfect), and Caesar Salad (fresh vegetables and quality chicken and home made dressing), and a deconstructed Tiramisu (Wow!).
They should be doing much more business than they are and sadly I think they are a victim of its class. I think sydneysiders generally are accustomed to cheap and nasty Italian with its overdone pizza and overdone pasta with gaudy decor and they see the classiness and professionalism of Spiedo and they run. Its sad but true. My fave Italian in Sydney and my feeling is as word of mouth builds about this place they'll start getting so busy you'll have to book way in advance.

Excellent choice on a Friday night to take 2 little kids. The mall type setting means it is child friendly and the service was friendly and attentive. We shared the grappa tempura cheese balls which were delicious and served on lovely radicchio slaw, then had the veal & pork raviolis with sage & burnt butter, penne with sardines, child's tomato penne, all very nice, pasta al dente, served hot and with saltiness nicely balanced. Ordered a mixed leaf salad which was a generous size and seasoned Italian style yummy but with lots of salt. Finished with a Zuppa Inglese which was beautifully presented, a good enough size to share - a bit old school but fine by us. Just had Campari & orange to drink, but the tap water was filtered. Only alarming thing was that it didn't seem busy, especially as it is in the same class as the Sopras, La Rosa & Ventuno and very good value, so please support this place I'd like to keep going there!

Wow, really just wow. We came in a group of 5 and just sampled the whole menu pretty much (it was worth the weight gain) the standouts of the night had to be the Sciatt and the cured ox tongue for and entree, Gnocchi with the wild boar ragout for a main. You must also try the roasted pumpkin, they're like cubed clouds of heaven painted orange, to finish off I enjoyed the Hazelnut Sbrisolona along with two Pinot Grigio's for the five of us. Truly a night to remember.
