As per the reviews below. Arrived for dinner and let the staff know that we would need a table for 6. 1 of our 6 was running late. The staff refused to let us sit down while we waited for the 6th person even though half the restaurant was empty. When we eventually sat down, the staff were unbelievably rude, 1 waitress in particular glared at every thing we said. Before all the food was off our plates, the plates and food were ripped away, bill plonked down and we were asked to leave.

The food was average and certainly did not make up for the horrendous service. I will definitely not be coming back here!

Spice I Am offers an interesting menu and a bustling atmosphere which almost made it an enjoyable experience. The enjoyment came to a crashing halt, however, when within 5 minutes of finishing our meal and only halfway through my glass of wine, we were very politely asked to leave so others could use our table. Restaurants that try to streamline their process like tend to loose repeat custom. I will not be returning.

Went here on sunday for lunch, for a birthday... had 5 people... asked to join two tables (they were empty) waitress said no can do as you need 7 people, repeatedly asked to join up tables which were empty, told each time you need 7 to do so! We left... on leaving we saw 3 people out the front with 2 tables joined! Their client service sucks. Goodbye...

We expected big things from this restaurant, given its popularity and location amongst a lot of high quality thai restaurants, like Chat Thai and Home Thai.

This is my first ever food review, but I felt so infuriated after eating that I felt compelled to write this review on the way home!

Food: The food was below average and more expensive than most. I respect fast service, but our food was literally thrown on to our table one minute after we ordered and was luke warm, which raised questions about its freshness. Another tell-tale sign was the fact that there was not a single Thai person eating at the restaurant, which should probably have tipped us off from the start!

Ambience: Very loud, which was understandable given the amount of people, but what was offputting was that staff were sorting cutlery into metal bowls just next to our table.

Service: Wow. Service was infuriatingly rude from beginning to end. When we were ordering, the waitresses were not pleasant at all. My wife tried to order mixed stir fry vegetables with chilli but was told that the vegetables could not be cooked with chilli. (Why? Perhaps, because the food was already cooked?).

As soon as we had finished our meals, the plates were whipped off the table and the bill thrown down simultaneously, and just as quickly the cash was snapped up. We left with the receipt, causing the waitress to rush after us and demand it back, telling us to wait outside until she brought us a copy of the receipt, which she finally brought to us with a last menacing glare as if we had done something wrong!

Will definitely not be going back, there are so many other better alternatives in the area! There is no excuse for service this rude. They are clearly just trying to grab your cash.

The food was good but the service really disappointed. We arrived at about 7.30 on a Wednesday and we were left waiting for about 30 minutes before we were offered a table. The table in question was squeezed next to a fridge, wouldn't fit two normal size persons, let alone my heavily pregnant dining companion.

Other tables were becoming available but my request to change was met with a certain resistance by the waiters (who noted they were saving the normal size space for an eventual group of 3). After I insisted they did agree with the change. Then when we asked for the entree to be brought before the main, they said they don't do this, they only bring everything together.

I wouldn't go back, there are many nice Thai restaurants around where the food is equally good and customers are treated better.

We arrived here at 6:30 on a Wednesday and only had to wait 15 minutes for a table for 4. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly.

For starter we ordered mini spring rolls which were tasty but were about 2cm each, the smallest spring rolls I've ever seen in the World. We also tried the pork stay sticks which were also small but delicious.

For mains we tried red duck curry, vegetarian stir fry with cashew nuts, tamarind prawns and chicken pad see-ew. The curry and tamarind prawns were excellent, couldn't fault them for their flavour and consistency. The pad see-ew was a little dry and the vege stir fry a little bland.

Can I say that we aren't big eaters but the servings here are the smallest I've seen in a Thai restaurant and the most expensive to boot. The actual reason we ordered the pad see-ew was because we were all still hungry after eating the other meals.

We will come back and recommend you try the specials that aren't in other Thai restaurants.

We got there very early Tuesday night before they opened so we could eat then get to a 7pm Sydney festival concert. This was my 1st time eating here mid-week - all other times were on Friday or Saturday nights and a bit later - so it was far less stressful for all concerned. The waitstaff were lovely (some long-time jaded; some first nighters) but that might have changed after we left when the lineup was getting larger.

The food, as always, was splendid - pad prik king crispy pork belly (spicey, earthy) and prawn pad cha (no peppercorns strings but fresh and lively). There is a definitely a depth of flavour and level of execution at Spice I Am than you'll find in other Thai place in Aus. And the cost was minimal. A terrific short evening. Just what we wanted (as did they).

The food here is amazing as long as you embrace the hot dishes. All the curries and hot stir-fry's are delicious and unique with the thai vegetables. Probably not the best place to go if you like the very mild dishes like pad thai and pad see ew. Their specialty is definitely with spicy food, the pad prik king and jungle curry are particularly amazing.

I can't comment on the food as we never actually got that far. I can say that after leaving my contact details with the girl rushing around without a clue I was offered a table nearly 90 minutes later. In the mean time we waited... and waited... and waited. In this time people came and went and names were scribbled on the same note pad. There were three of us and couples appeared to get priority even those coming after us. I honestly have never seen a more disorganised and pathetic restaurant as this. It also appeared as if once you were seated you were expected to eat and go in a flash. If you are a local, enjoy this place and get preferential treatment then enjoy however I will certainly not be returning.

I had miniature (and I mean microscopic!) spring rolls for entree and the pork belly with basil for main.

The Food - Expensive and fairly bland. The pork belly was crispy but flavourless, and the spring rolls just tasted like the deep fryer.

Ambience - We were sat on the footpath. Now, Wentworth Ave isn't the nicest street, so why anyone would think its a nice place to dine is beyond me. This place is hyped (I was told I Must go), but it failed to deliver in a Big way.

Service - Pushy to the point of rude, but very efficient. They are interested in turning over diners quickly and thats it. Profits through volume. They barely grunt at you other than to take your order, or hurry you up. The service was some of the worst I have come across. Customers are certainly not looked after in any way.

Value - Terrible. With the quality and variety of thai restaurants in the area, I would have to say this is the poorest value I have seen. All meals were more expensive than your normal thai restaurant, and I fail to see the value in the absence of ambience or service and the very average food.
