Ate here on a Sat night and the place was suprisingly very quiet. Were attended to immediately, ordered drinks and asked if we would like "some dips and bread to go with the drinks". Later realised this little offer had cost us $21. We also provided a complimentry amuse buche of deepfried meatballs.

We shared the dips and entrees of calamari and spanakopita, and then had mains of baked lamb, lamb shank and pasta. All the food was of a very good quality and the service throughout was exemplary.

There are a lot of cheaper Greek places in the area, which might explain the few diners, but I can recommend this place for a stylish night out.

Went to this restaurant with my Greek girlfriend for an authentic Greek experience. Apart from a painting of the Greek islands on the wall and the Greek music in the background, we also received the following: Over-emphasis of service from a Chinese waiter (was just expecting someone Greek, who knew the food and could pronounce the dishes better than myself), stuffed vegetables (an eggplant, cut in half, as it was entree size, ridiculous to cut something in half and put it on a plate.

A stuffed capsicum, hot pot of approx. 6 garlic prawns, a chicken breast toped with salmon which was drowned and covered in what looked like bernaise sauce with asparagus. Extremely salty, I didn't finish the dish and I do agree with the other comment. what the.....? is bok choy doing on a plate in a 'Greek' restaurant and as an entree pita bread with creamy garlic bread, add 2 glasses of water=$72 thanks.

Needless to say, we skipped dessert and got out of there. The waiter asked how the food was, when it was obvious because we left at least 1/3 on the plates. Never again. I could have made a better effort out of a cookbook and I am not even Greek.

I am actuallly REALLY IMPRESSED by the place in comparison to the former management, I think Sophocles really has potential. I mean sure it's not exactly a cheap price range on the menu, but it's far from your average street level cafe or restaurant. It would definitely be a place that you would take someone to impress, because it is fine dining so you can't go there being tight in the pocket.

I am actually of a Greek background and I found the food really magnificent. The most simple ways in which the dishes are made, give the touch of Greece, like for instance the Roast lamb and the Snapper. As for the comments of the bok choy, I hardly noticed! Regardless of which there is a world wide use of the vegetable, for instance, not all Italian places who use lebanese cucumbers in their salads are regarded as lebanese restaurants are they?

In a nut shell, I was extremely impressed overall with the service, being the waitstaff who seemed very experienced along with the head waiter who is also of Greek origin, and was able to communicate with the non-english speaking guests at the table. I also had the privilege of meeting the Chef (All I can say you can't get more authentic than him), and this what, perhaps, gave me the added confidence in the food that was served at our table.

Just a note: I was dining with a table of 8 people, 3 of whom were visitors from Athens and along with the other guests at the table really enjoyed the evening very much. Thanks guys, I owe it to you to post this message, to applaud your prestige representation and service, that is very rarely found at other Greek restaurants I have visited in the past.

Party of 6 went there for dinner on a Saturday night. We were after a great Greek experience! Well, a word to the wise, just give this place A HUGE miss! Honestly, there is so little Greek cuisine on the menu that the restaurant should not even be allowed to list as a Greek restaurant. It is really a mix of a small number of Greek dishes mixed with an overwhelming number of other 'classic' Mod Oz and european dishes (but don't presume that any of these dishes are being cooked or presented well).

Aside from the poor showing of Greek dishes in the menu, the food overall is overpriced and suffers severely in terms of taste, quality and quantity. Dips were @ $7, entrees $13-19 and mains from $26. I really don't believe that you can slap two small sticks of supermarket style "chicken souvlaki' on a plate with half a cup of rice, greasy roti style bread and loads of cheap Greek salad (ie 2 bits of feta, 2 olives but loads of tomato and capsicum) AND say it is worth $26. Yeah right!

The desserts fared little better, the creme brulee was cold including the toffee glaze, the contents of the bowl tasted more like baby's egg custard than a professional attempt. In, summary I think this restaurant by doing things like adding bok choy to souvlaki demonstrates how little committed or interested it has in providing an authentic Greek restaurant experience.

The wait staff were a beacon in an otherwise desolate experience. Cheerful, funny, prompt and informative. If this is Sophocles under New Management then someone better bring on the NEW New Management. I sincerely hope that this restaurant can improve.

I was told about Sophocles from a work collegue and recently made a trip with my husband. Excellent is an understatement. It was a quiet atmopshere that wasn't interrupted by screeching cars and loud exhausts. We were able to enjoy a lovely meal by an authentic Greek chef and Greek waiter. The food was absolutley divine and the service was flawless. Excellent value meals, very surprising that these venues still exist in Parramatta.

Very sad presentation and service for the New Management of Sophocles. Our group of 20 Adults were left feeling very hungry, don't know any other Greek restaurant that has Buck Choy as one of their vegetables.
