Went to Sombreros on Saturday night, and the food is fantastic, the staff were so friendly. I would highly recommend the Fajitas and Sangria, definitely a restaurant that will be re-visited.
I enjoyed my experience at this restaurant. We had a large group for my birthday and the service was friendly and timely. Food was delicious. The trio of dips for entree was excellent. We had the chilli con queso, salsa and frijol dips. I also shared the cantina fajita with my partner and that proved to be also satisfying. We also ordered a few jugs of sangria and that was perfect with our meal. I would definitely recommend this place to lovers of Mexican food.
Worst service I've ever had! We had to wait over two hours for our food. We requested drinks on several occasions which never came. To top it off, they tried to overcharge us with the final bill which I wasn't paying for. I wouldn't recommend this place. Food was ok but not worth it.
A Mexican restaurant that plays techno music, has twice as many staff as patrons (but still can't attend to the patrons needs) & very mediocre food. The staff were dancing & chatting more than serving & had an attitude issue with everything.
My chicken enchilada was cold so I asked if it could be heated up a little. By the time I received it back the rest of meal was cold, so we didn't even finish our meals. Also really hate A4 laminated placemats that are all tatty & no doubt harbouring a million germs on the tables - throw them out! The hand dryers weren't working in the bathrooms & they had run out of soap. Really bad & not recommended at all.
We ate here last night, the dips were great and tasty but the mains left something else to be desired. The mains were lacking flavor and the burritos on the menu said they are stuffed with veggies like capsicums but we couldn't find any in there.
Sombreros is a little gem hiding in Cronulla. We go there from Mona Vale for nearly every special occasion, the food is always very fresh and tasty, the fajitas are delicious, and the chilli con queso dip with a jug of sangria is addictive! Make sure you book to get a table on Saturdays, they get very busy! The service is always welcoming and with a smile.
Whoever gave this place a good rating has not eaten at a nice mexican restaurant. After waiting nearly 2 hours for our mains to arrive (we didn't order entrees), I gagged on my tacos, but was desperate enough to eat them. The chicken burrito which was also ordered at our table, I would not have thought it was a sufficient size for an entree, let alone a main. The ribs were so tough the knife was getting stuck. I agree with Roberto, my DIY Mexican food by far surpasses what we experienced this evening.
The set out of the restaurant is nice. The staff were very dismissive even though we were there so long waiting for food, that by the time the mains came the restaurant was clearing. And despite being the last ones left, I still had trouble getting a glass of water. When asking a passing waitress she said "one second" very curtly and carried on with what she was doing, despite the fact there were 3 more staff members chatting together at the register. Needless to say, an extremely disappointing evening, with a stop off at McDonalds on the way home.
We have been going to Sombreros for the past six months. It is definitely one of the best Restaurants in the area. The food is great, the staff very helpful and accommodating and the whole atmosphere is wonderful. Their prices are reasonable and it has become a favourite of our's. We make a point of dining there, very few weeks. A must try!
I went to Sombreros with a large group of 12 firends last week. Luckily for me most of us ordered something different so I got the opportunity to try many of the mexican dishes on the menu. I have to say that all the dishes tasted great. The standout dishes for me was the CCQ dip for entree and the Ribs and Chicken Buriitto. I mustn't be the only person that enjoyed the food there as the place was busy. Despite this, the service was friendly and fast. So no complaints from me and a big two thumbs up. Will definitely be arrangeing a return visit.
We have eaten at another Mexican for 25 years (Gymea Bay) so we should declare this first. Having just moved to Cronulla we ordered takeaway. Three dips, guacamole, conqueso and chilli salsa. Unfortunately, none to our taste. The con queso was just plain oily and unedible, the others only marginally better. The corn chips were thrown into the plastic bag around the plastic dip containers, is that just us or is it a bit strange? We tried to order an enchilada, plain without the rice, sour cream etc, sorry, no can do.
