The closest thing you'll get to pub food at pub prices in Balmain. The Friday night pies are excellent and huge for $14.50 with peas and mash. Roasts are also excellent. Good local atmosphere.
Real pub, real food. Sunday roast was terrific, succulent beef, pork, lamb or chicken with freshly cooked veges and lashings of gravy, in large ($13.50) or small ($10) servings. Large is very large. Fast experienced bar staff who know their job and do it well.
One of Balmain's great pubs - very much old Balmain. Recently introduced theme nights - curry night, french night, pie night etc. Food is really very good - making due allowance for the fact that we are not talking gourmet here but pub grub - and ridiculously cheap. Roast nights, in particular, are fantastic - the place is packed out, great feel to the place (Roast nights are Thursday nights)
New chef, formerly from Bowling Club - reintroduced French regional cuisine evenings. Reasonable pub-type cuisine. A classic workers'pub, so facilities are limited.
