To be honest, been here 5 times in past year as it's a local. The past 3 visits have resulted in being overly familiar with my own bathroom! Food was good in the beginning but the quality has dramatically gone downhill. The service is mediocre!
Last time we were there, one of the staff member had his child there, watching a violent dvd on a small dvd player - I did not appreciate eating lunch to the soundtrack of shooting guns or car chases as the volume was pumped up to a max (and on another note, what is a child of age 7 watching violent movies for????). We won't be coming back here!
I've been to Sinma twice and am never going back.On my first visit, I ordered their chicken rice and they served me chicken which was still cold from being in the fridge, inexcusable! On my second visit, they forgot my order and there was no apology forthcoming, Atrocious service! I've been to Malaysia several times and I can honestly say that Sinma's food is not authentic.
This place used to be very good, friendly staff, tasty, big portions and good value for money. Would come here nearly every week. How things have changed...
Prices have gone up, and amount and quality of food has decreased quite significantly. And the service has just hit rock bottom. I agree with the comments re: tea tarik, the male staff who makes it should just consider retiring. Also, when we tried to talk to the senior staff about the food, he came up with some rant about "petrol being so expensive" and "cha kuey teow prices going up".
So, just save yourselves the trouble and eat, or better yet, don't bother going to this restaurant.
I've been there numerous times to get my regular 'fix' of Malaysian food. Overall, the food is OK, although I normally order their combination noodle with green pickled chillies, which I find is close to the version found in Malaysia. The rest of the food is generally OK, although I would probably avoid getting the already cooked food from their hot bar as I find them to be dry (sign of being there for too long).
Not much of an ambience, just a place to eat your food and leave. Service is very mix, at times the staffs are attentive, but mostly, the service is bad. Some of the staffs are not friendly and seemed pretty moody. The food are not too pricey, most of them are between $8-$10, but I wouldn't rate them as value of money.
We go there once a fortnight, generally very good although sometimes (really) bad service. Liver is in quite a few of the dishes which I personally don't like.
Authentic Malaysian dishes with quite a few curries and spicy dishes. I quite like the meals as it is generally very good.
My friend and I are the regular customer of Sinma Laksa House, we go there almost once a month. There is only one thing I want to mention here is one of the middle age male staff refuse to take order for a ' tea tarik ' from my friend and it happened twice in different night ! He said to him " No point to order tea tarik cos we are very busy tonight." After 5-10 minutes the waitress is serving tea tarik to other customers. How ridiculous is that?
Having lived in Singapore I go here for a quick kind of hawker centre fix. Their combination hor fun, they call it something else, is pretty authentic if you ask for lots of green chillies. Their rotis with curry are nice too but sometimes they burn them. I am wanting to try the murtabak, I am yet to find good ones in Sydney. Most of the other stuff is pretty average, but good hawker food is hard to find here so it's better than nothing and it isn't expensive at all.
I have tried a few times at this place but I am still yet to find it a replacement of true Malaysian/Singaporean hawker flavour particularly their satay sauce is way TOO FAR from the authentic taste.
The food was slightly overprice given the quality if compared to other Singapore/Malaysian restaurants in Sydney. Besides, they are quite stingy with their chili/sambal sauce and their service was pretty bad most of the time too.
