Great coffee - today's variety was Yeehah and it's great to see this coffee's 'tasting notes' paper-clipped to your lunch menu.
Had the roasted celeriac soup which came out creamy and with pools of pesto oil and a surprise package of a poached egg hiding under the soup. Organic sourdough on the side. All this for $10!
Dining companion had Mexican chili bean pie and said it was delicious. Other lunch items were the Cumberland sausage roll, casoulet, Middle Eastern tapas plate and poached ocean trout, romularde and pickles sourdough sandwich.
Great that they provide blankets for the outdoor tables and stools.
Lunch for two including coffees and mineral water was $33.
Service was friendly and down-to-earth - our waitperson had the funkiest eyeliner design - like a catwoman! Only gripe was that our order of a double ristretto came out as a single.
Definitely better value than my lunch time visit to Danks Street Depot. Wish this place opened on weekends.

A victim of its own success, over recent years Single Origin has had to remodel and expand into the street with more outside wooden tables and new awnings, and still they can't satisfy demand for their great coffee and reasonably priced food at breakfast. Monday and Friday mornings are the busiest as many local workers get their first real coffee hit after the weekend or the last before the weekend break.
Service is friendly and enthusiastic, though at times hard pushed to cope. The breakfast muffins are delicious, changing daily, and in winter staff hand out rugs for people sitting on the wooden stools outside. If you see a crowd queuing for take-away coffee, prepare for a long wait for yours, though it's worth it if you have the time.

Had a toastie that was very good, albeit a tad over-priced for what it was and the area. Service was slow considering it wasn't busy. The coffee is good here but its good at a lot of places in the area.
Can't understand the fuss/fashion magnetism around coffee generally. The senior staff and his staff obviously have a lot of it. They also over-respond and are very in your face. Avoid unless you're in the mood for something other than coffee.

This place is awesome and reminds me on the alleys in Melbourne! Been here for brekkie a few times and the food has been great - 4 cheese toastie was delicious.
Staff very attentive and friendly. Value great compared to other places in the area who charge more for no where near as good food.

The coffee here is fantastic but the food is very expensive, around $15 for a sandwich. Admittedly it is a huge sandwich, but it's more than I like to pay for my lunch usually. Amazing coffee though, and very friendly staff.

I'd agree that this is definitely world class coffee and the food is great. Unfortunately, why I had to give a 1 for service is really due to the senior staff, (I'm assuming that's the staff that so many reviewers rave about). Maybe I got him on a bad day, but it started with our coffee order going missing in action. When it finally arrived, he came over and sat with us. I thought to apologise.
However, what he did was spend about 1/2 hour complaining to us about how he'd like to expand to the premises next door but he has problems with the council, his landlord etc, using the "F" word and the "C" word, yes believe it! My husband and I didn't know him from a bar of soap and there he was going on and on and on about all his problems, dropping such colourful language that even my closest friends don't use in my presence, let alone a complete stranger. I've no idea why he did this, I tried to make a hasty retreat but he was actually blocking our path with his chair. So regardless of the world class coffee, we won't be back.

Single O ROCKS!!! The one and only coffee place to be in Sydney! Love it Love it Love it! ristretto is amazing, the ambience is good, and Gavin is awesome! lol
