It has been an ages since I went to a nice restaurant. But it was until yesterday when I lastly found out about the Singapore Heritage Restaurant. I mean it was simply awesome. The service and food was delightful. I can't say that the food was totally perceptional but its was really onto its standard. I guess the pricing for the food they served was totally on the mark. I even received unexpected service by the staffs that were unexceptional. They were really friendly and conveying always ready to deliver perfect service.

This restaurant was simply a disappointment. I had such high hopes for it, as I had wanted to try them out for months. As implied in my ratings, everything was average. I agree with a previous reviewer that there is much better Singapore/Malaysia restaurant out there, and you only pay a fraction of the price. I suspect people are paying for the ambience; unfortunately I wasn't able to experience this on my visit to this restaurant. As we spent a good hour and a half listening to screaming kid. The service was below standard for the market that this restaurant is aimed for. We were expected to move the dishes on the too small table for the waitress, while she waited impatiently. In summary, just a bit ordinary.

Went here for the crab special and was pretty disappointed. The crab portions did not look like 1kg at all and the other mains were tiny for the price. We were basically the first group in and had booked in advance but service was poor, they barely acknowledged that we were there.

Atmosphere is great but it’s hard to read the menu as it’s so dark. Was not impressed and wouldn’t repeat the experience. You’re better off going to Cabramatta or Canley Vale for decent crab.

Award winning crab?? I am really not sure how truthful this restaurant is. We were told to book early because it was "full' - so not! Staff were very friendly but none had any idea how to serve due to the lack of training.

The food was really bad, we were served stale soft shell crab, overpriced pepper beef and sambal prawns that belongs to the "SALES" section in the Coles supermarket. I am better off going to any restaurant in Chinatown.

The ambience overall is unique just to be killed by the last page of the menu and pink toilets - seems like the small chef loves himself more than the food he serves and very closeted.

It is a shame because the ambience on entry is cosy enough to capture but what happens after in there is enough to turn you off for good! Also, the credibility of its marketing information is worth some research. May Gordon arrive and give them some advice!

Decor was modern, very pink. Food was ordinary and a bit overpriced. Had the Singapore Chilli Crab (overrated) Heritage beef rice and "Hot & Sexy Belachan Fish", the latter which was perhaps the best out of the three.

Didn't appreciate being told that our table would be given away to someone else if we were late because they were "fully booked", when in fact they were barely 1/3 full. And really didn't appreciate them sitting us down at the bar "for a drink" while they "got our table ready". It was ready; they just wanted us to buy drinks.

Place too dark, can't find my spoon, mixed up my drinks and can't find the way to toilet but toilet design in a very traditional way, what I can remember, there's scary looking paint in front of the toilet door.

Food was tasty, crab fantastic! Went there for my 22nd birthday, great place for friends gathering, but not really for dinner for 2 as we use naked hand to peel and eat crab. Recommended.

Initially was supposed to try out a Moroccan place in the vicinity but was drawn to this place with its red stringed lights. Going into this place we were transported from the modern glass and concrete surroundings to an exotic world inside. Decor is dominated by browns and lashings of red. That, together with the low lighting gives it an intimate yet funky ambiance.

We were told that upstairs "wasn’t ready" so ordered our meals and drinks downstairs. The menu first briefly describes the Chinese, Indian and Malay cultural influences that helped create the fusion of Singaporean cuisine. The sensual theme of the restaurant was certainly evident with the menu containing such aptly named dishes including the Hot & Sexy Belachan Stuffed Crispy Fish and Exotic Mango Chicken Rice.

Lookout for the chef profile page in the menu. It truly brings new meaning to the words "naked chef". It proclaims not only the 145cm chef's culinary achievements but also his body building credits and celebrity status. The chef was probably trying to add to the sensual theme of the restaurant but made me feel a bit queasy.

After erasing the memories of the profile page we decided on the Exotic Mango Chicken Rice & Clay-pot Drunken Chicken Casserole. Going upstairs also made the atmosphere go up another level. The decor continues upstairs but with a more intimate atmosphere - probably because it was more dimly lit. We were greeted by peacock lamps (?), Chinese stone warriors and red umbrellas as we made our way to the table. Tatami floor seating and tables are also available.

The pinot noir was fairly mediocre on its own but improved somewhat with our meals. We didn’t get the pleasure of using torches upstairs due to the dim lighting, to read the menu, like other patrons, since we ordered downstairs. The soothing chill out music matched the ambience of the place.

The food did not take too long to arrive but then again we were the first ones there. Service was okay and staff occasionally came by to make sure everything was fine.

The Clay-pot Drunken Chicken Casserole is chicken marinated with wine stir fried with garlic then baked with ginger juice and more wine. I found it a tad salty but the Exotic Mango Chicken Rice certainly made up for it. With its fresh mango cubes marinated with Thai fish sauce and stir fried with chicken slices, veggies and rice, every mouthful was to die for. All in all, the food and service was good but the decor and atmosphere even better.
