Was recommended by an acquaintance so I tried it but was disappointed. I was expecting coffee to be great but instead it was flat and lukewarm, the food was pretty average as well. I had their big breakfast and it was just a mess, the eggs tasted like they were cooked and left on the counter for about 1hr then partly reheated and served to me, the bread was tough, the beans were just terrible. I wouldn't recommend the cafe.

Food was spectacular, and the service is friendly and oddly genuine. (since we are all so used to fast food service). It can get a bit busy, but its worth the wait.

Slow service and slow for food to come out. I ordered a bagel with smoked salmon, cream cheese, capers, salad etc. The bagel was not a bagel but a slightly bagel shaped white bread roll. If you cannot get the simple things right...

An overall rating average of 6.7 is way off the mark. The coffee is great, the service excellent, and the value for money right up there. The menu hits the mark and the serving sizes are very generous.

Friendly guys, somewhat interesting menu (crocodile for instance, which is kinda novel I guess). The coffees are ok, better than much of this part of enmore road.

The service can be slow, but having watched a number of people just get up and shout their orders to the waitstaff hiding behind the counter if you're insistent you'll get your order placed.

We've been looking for a cafe in Newtown to call our fav for the past year but none were measuring up. Was becoming accustomed to getting coffee from Alchemy and eating at home. Then Silverbean opened. Coffee almost as good as Alchemy without the wait. Brekkie menu includes some slightly quirky options including the mega-delicious Croc Monster.

Best of all is the friendly welcome and personalised service from the lovely George who makes you feel like you're hanging out at his place for a while. Not Recommended. If you start going we might not be able to get a table!

Cafe is unique and stylish, great emphasis on details. Good food served with a friendly smile. Came for coffee, stayed for lunch. Great concept!

Honestly, this place is the best thing since sliced bread. Long time Newtown local here so I know the cafe scene. Tried this place just over a week ago, and have been back every day since. Haven't had a single thing to eat or drink that was anything less than spectacular, and almost too good value to be true. These guys seriously know their food and coffee. My recommendations? Baked cheesecake, burrito, blackened chicken sandwich, any breakfast dish, apple and cinnamon loaf, topped off with anything else Lowan has cooked.

We enjoyed the honestly-priced breakfast burritos which came with lots of fresh salad too. The coffee was nice and the service came with a smile and a lovely chat. They've done a great job at renovating this shop, bringing back lots of the gorgeous original details. Deserving of success!

Very friendly service, the perfect coffee. The food was great value I was pleasantly surprised. The most impressive thing was the cool ambience of the cafe, its a must see, very different. Will be visiting again.
