Good food in a low-key setting. Love dining here for Portuguese chicken and salted cod.

Appalling customer service. Went in for a takeaway chicken roll on a quiet day. After 5 minutes and still no chicken roll, I asked when the food would be ready and the lady behind the counter started abusing me. The food came out just as she finished yelling at me. Chicken roll was poor. It tasted like they wiped cold grease on the roll. Very disappointed that staff verbally attack customers for asking a question. Will not go back.

I have been coming to Silvas for a few years now and have to say its still the same. Chicken is fresh and cooked on the grills. The salads and the stews are great and authentic. Prices are reasonable and the service is not in your face. The menu is very wide and they always have a great seafood special on. Locals have been there everytime I go there with familiar faces.

Food - Always fresh and tasty. I don't think I've ever had something that tasted bad.

Ambience - Nice place, and has a real national feel about it. Photos around, table settings, etc.

Service - Always prompt and polite.

Value - Generous servings at a good price.

Recommendation - 7.8/10 - Book a table for peak hours through Thu-Sat. Can get quite busy. Nice place, and a must try if you're in to your Portuguese.

This place is fantastic. It is the second time I have been in the past month and the waiter remembered our order. The chicken is succulent and the servings definitely value for money. This is one that would become a regular. The pipis are a little too salty but that's the portuguese tradition. The only fault I would have is the chilli sauce isn't very chilli, but with the chicken they have I wouldn't ruin it with chilli. Highly recommended. The garlic sauce is a must to try.

You come here for the chicken. If you don't have time to eat in, theres a line up for takeaway with mounds of freshly cooked marinated chicken.

The service is friendly, the other foods on offer are all generous in servings and tasty. We tried the espetada, for $27 is a great portion to share, we asked for medium rare beef and got exactly that, comes with a side of polenta, bread, and salad! The chorizo was too salty, and the sangria sweet. A great place to come with a large group if you're after a hearty feast. Will come back and try their intriguing pork and pipis dish, along with the chicken of course.

The food is worth the trek to this place. Good mix of regular customers. However, service needs much improvement, particularly of the older staff.

My husband and I have been to Silva's numerous times and everytime we have loved it. The food is amazing and the service is great! definitely authentic portuguese food. I will be going tonight as well. Highly recommended.

I don't usually care when I experience a below average customer service as no one's perfect. In fact, I've never reviewed a restaurant before this. But the Customer Service I experienced at Silvas was just the Worst Ever in my memory.

It was a pretty quiet Wednesday night and all I wanted was a cup of regular hot chips. I paid the girl at the counter and waited for my turn. I waited for 10 minutes and went up to the counter to ask her about my order. She looked at me as if she's never seen me before and asked me for the receipt, which she never gave me in the first place. When I told her that I didn't get a receipt from her, she started accusing me instead, saying that she always gives out receipts and she doesn't remember me paying. So according to her, my order didn't even exist!

Fully surprised and after managing to convince her that I did pay, I went back and decided to wait a bit longer for my order. Waited another 5 minutes and didn't want to wait any longer. So I went to ask for my money back. She didn't even apologise for the bungle and gave me back the money as if I was a homeless guy asking for change. When I complained about her customer service, all I heard from her was a sarcastic 'See Yaa! See Yaa!'. All this was happening in front of the guy who looked like to be the senior staff but all he did was stand back and smile.

I always support small businesses and it makes me proud to live in Petersham which has so many of them but at the same time, it's sad to see some of them lose customers because of such trivial issues not dealt with properly. There is so much competition in Petersham when it comes to Portuguese chicken and now I know where Not To Go.
