The menu specialising in degustation constantly evolving through collaboration and conflicting influence of 5 young & ambitious resident Chefs - Japanese, Korean, Mediterranean and French Pastry, providing sumptuous Fine Dining experience amongst Art & Antique Decor. Strong emphasis on Quality of Produce and Presentation rather than entertainment (No food throwing). Level 2 is arguably the best venue in the area for any type of functions.

The degustation menu is perfection. We've dined here many times and have held a function there as well and will continue to return. David is a wonderful host and the food is exceptional and the price very reasonable.
Response from Management:
I'm often asked when do I get time to write replys, managing two restaurants world apart. Well, it's because of people like you, TTiger. Your review b4 us on 'eatability' was 2008 - you've taken your time out for us, the least I can do is acknowledge your effort and say "Thank you!"

What a great night! I wanted something a little different for my daughter's 13th birthday, and Seven Lanterns was an absolutely perfect choice! Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and my daughter and her friends kept telling me how much they'd enjoyed the night as I was driving everyone home. Thanks for a brilliant evening - we'll be back, and I will certainly recommend Seven Lanterns to my friends!
Response from Management:
I remember you CathK! You came all alone with 'FIVE' 13yo girls. You have to be the bravest diner I have seen in awhile. I'm scoring YOU 10/10 for "Solo Teenage Girls Dinner Party Behaviour Management"

My partner and I visited Seven Lanterns after reading great reviews on this site, and we weren't dissapointed! We had the $70/person degustation menu and enjoyed every part of it. The manager and staff make you feel like a valued regular, even though it was our first visit. We will be returning!
Response from Management:
You see how it works - we treat you LIKE regulars then you RETURN like regulars! Happy dining, sally74

Very nice restaurant. Impeccable service. The degustation menu was very tasty, dishes were well presented. We didn't have teppanyaki (upstairs) as it was too busy but we didn't mind. We will be back.
Response from Management:
Thanks for your kind review, The Wen and Flo Show. When you book for next visit ask for Teppan Bar seating (max 8). For your information though, wherever you are seated we provide the same menus - mix of kitchen and Teppan prepared.

Just stumbled across this place, very glad we did. Did not have the teppanyaki but I imagine it would be good if the degustation is anything to go by.
Everything is done with a light touch and presentation is beautiful. Great nosh and good value for $70ph on Saturday night which included two glasses of wine.
The atmosphere upstairs is pleasant even though it was quite busy. Very happy to go again and recommend, may take the grown up kids for teppanyaki next time.
Response from Management:
I'm too very glad you just happened to stumble across but ended up enjoying your night @ 7 Lanterns. We have a pretty tempting beverage list so make sure you don't stumble on the way out. Looking forward to seeing your grown up kids soon, martyg.

We went on Friday night based on these reviews, we also live in the area and have eaten at many fine dining restaurants, but haven't been able to find one local. I took a mate here for birthday and had the degustation.
First thing first, this place is about the food, not the decor or snobby service generally expected when you hear degustation (ie. they have standard tiled floors, standard fitout). I have never experienced service and food delivery as swift as Seven Lanterns.
Seated immediately, menu provided, table water and ordered in 5 minutes! The plates came out in very quick succession and the whole degustation was over in an hour (tip - slow down the food delivery to at least 15 minutes between dishes so that it can be fully appreciated). The first dish was a salad, but it took me straight back to my Japan travels and brought back alot of memories. Clean crisp salad!
The place was very busy by 7.45pm, and rightly so. The food is Yum! initially, my thoughts were that we would be hungry half way through the degustation as portions were small, but by the end of the night we were very content. The slow cooked beef was divine, and I loved the dessert (from memory I think it was a mousse). Also the Sake Sangria was insanely good and very strong (this was surprising a you can't taste the alcohol at all.
For the price, the service, attention from the owner and the food, I highly recommend this place.
FYI - this restaurant is really good for a nice dinner or birthday, but its not somewhere you take somebody special to blow them away. Its more suited for a relaxed evening, great food and easy service.
I will be back!
Response from Management:
Your objective & precise yet kind review has certainly blown ME away. And yes, the Sangria (especially "My name is Ryan and I'm an alcoholic") has indeed caused much Insanity amongst my regulars...in fact I can name a few from last night..... Jason, Luke, Mario...

We have lived in the Shire for just over 6 years and struggled to find the value and quality we find closer towards the city. After a recommendation from my favourite Food Blogger NQN I jumped at the chance at giving Seven Lanterns a go and we were not disappointed. With Value for money degustation menus with quality food I definitely will be spreading the word. Service was excellent. Will definitely be going back.
Response from Management:
I'm so glad you gave us a go and liked our food, Nosh_itFood (and thanks Lorraine, NQN for wonderful review!). And as for great eateries in the Shire, you don't need to look no further than my fantastic neighbours - Kalevu, Mike's, Masa for example, not to mention the famous Paul's berger. Our strip has all the gestronomic needs you desire!
By the way I'm not on commission and they're not my relatives, they're just talented people.

A wonderfully original set up for this part of the world, backed up by interesting choices of dishes that were presented with flair. I would hazard a guess that this is the so called new wave Modern Korean food trend. If so, I shall be a very "contented Vegemite". Love the bold choice of wines by the glass. The outstanding dish had to be the stewed beef in cast pot, sublime in its texture and perfectly flavoured with soy and condiments. I can eat this for lunch and dinner all winter.
If there is one thing different I can wish for, it is for a wider and more adventurous choice of sauce other than the classic sweet soy/mayonnaise (ubiquitous in American modern Japanese cuisine) accompanying the salmon, prawn etc. Perhaps, some vinegar/lime/fruity flavour to add more zest and intrigue.
In summary, a terrific choice for a fun night out. Service was warm and relaxed, and should easily be 9, except when we were there, the place was packed and so the response time to receiving our dishes, drinks and bill was compromised accordingly. So the service score for that visit was 7 stars for 7 Lanterns.
Response from Management:
You must be a foodie magazine editor! I'm drooling reading your review on my own dish. And yes, we're trying to re-intepret Korean cuisine and hope to try some new and adventurous dishes soon. I'm glad you approved of our wine list, hapydiner. Your 7.8 is like 9 stars to me.

Seven Lanterns is an absolutely amazing restaurant! I cannot stay away from the place! The food is to die for, particularly the soft shell crab rolls and marbled beef. Service and ambience are great, there is nothing I can fault! I would recommend eating here to anyone!
Response from Management:
You must be coming on week nights for you to say you can't fault us. Weekends are getting very busy for us now and things are getting a little hectic. We need more staff, professional but warm and friendly. Actually..doing anything on the weekends, Whitney86?... Well, you did say you couldn't stay away...

My boyfriend and I come here frequently and every time leave with a smile on our face. The food here is fantastic! We have to get 3 entrees every time because we can't decide between the chilli and soy edamame, soft shell crab and emperor prawn. The beef hot pot is a tantilising main that just melts in your mouth. And dessert! I've never been a fan of sticky date pudding but I gave this one a go and boy am I glad I did! Don't ever take it off the menu David!
The staff are lovely and the owner provides such a warm presence in the room as he floats around to each table to have a chat and make sure we are enjoying our meals.
I've recommended this restaurant to so many people and I will continue to dine here. The menu is regularly tweaked so there is always something new to try. Keep up the great work guys!
Response from Management:
Ummmm...warm moist sticky date pudding with cold vanilla ice cream..as the hot thick caramel sauce melts on creamy vanilla ice cream and smears into the pudding...the glorious sweet sensation...my greatest weakness, teejay02! It will never come off the menu, never!!!
