Went here to celebrate my one year anniversary with my boyfriend, absolutely delicious! We ordered the seafood platter and shared, it was so fresh and tasted beautiful! It was expensive, but in the end good value for money because between the 2 of us we had a variety of fresh fruit and seafood and we couldn't finish it at all!!!
The beautiful views just top it off, it is a bit wanky, but if you ignore that and just enjoy the company you're with, you'll have a great romantic evening!! It was also a nice change to have a delicious fresh strawberry in my champagne, instead of a rotten slice of strawberry which has been sitting there for days, that you get everywhere else !!
Great location and a great view. Having said that - the food is disappointing. The seafood isn't as fresh as it could be, and the salads are consistently limp and over-dressed, presumably to hide the fact that the lettuce has past its use-by date by the time it gets to the table.
The service was the only other highlight, it was attentive even though this place gets busy - although as someone mentioned they don't really take no for an answer when it comes to drinks so be prepared for a hard sell. I gave this place a second go after the first time but I won't be hurrying back for a third sampling.
What a find! We went to Cronulla for some seaside fish & chips recently only to find that the old place right by the water that served great food had gone, replaced by a juice bar (a sign of the times?). We stumbled across Sealevel and enjoyed a very nice seafood platter lunch with great views of the surf crashing right outside the window.
Friendly attentive staff, if not a little bit pushy / insistent when it came to ordering drinks. Still water top-ups were frequent - good stuff. Quiet, private seating in a half full lunch time restaurant - no reservation but awesome seats.
The hot & cold platter was a bit hot & cold quality wise. Excellent overall but the crab was still par-frozen and plain tastless, prawns just passable. This took away from an otherwise flawless dining experience - unfortunate. The oysters were to die for however, as was the squid. I recommend Sealevel as a unique dining experience and would most certainly go back.
We took my mother to Sealevel restaurant for Mothers Day and had one of the best days out I have ever had. We had to go at 2 pm because it was very busy but it was definitely well worth the wait. We were lucky to be sat on a window table overlooking the surf and all the action on the boardwalk.
The staff were very friendly and attentive to what we wanted and although it was a limited menu the choices were very good. The service was perfect, we got drinks and entrees very quickly had a little wait for our mains, but the food was enjoyed by all on our table.
We will be back and it won't just be for a special occasion, we all loved it.
Nice place to eat in Cronulla, a little overpriced for what you're getting. I had the pork belly and it was nowhere near the same standard. Although it was a very nice meal I probably wouldn't go back.
Location is nice but I prefer the view of Coogee, Clovelly and Bondi beached over Cronulla beach. It was quite crowded and tables are small. It was also extremely noisy for a Sunday lunch and he had trouble hearing the conversation next to us.
The bread was absolutely delicious. I could be happy just to sit there and eat the sour dough bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and durkah. The seafood platters were filling, 3 people could easily share one not the two listed on the menu. They were tasty if a bit heavy for my taste as I do not eat a lot of fried food.
The oysters kilpatrick were a bit cold by the time we got them and probably could have used a bit more worcestershire sauce on them, while the mornay required a bit more cooking. We requested some garlic in our mash and they were very happy to make it garlicky.
Service was quite good but I would like to see the staff smile a bit more often, it makes you feel happier when you see smiles rather than some of the deadpan faces.
Sealevel is in a fantastic location right on Cronulla Beach. The restaurant is light, modern and inviting. Seating is crowded. The noise level on a busy Friday night was unbearable. I was sitting at a table for three near the window and had trouble hearing the conversation. I also noticed that upon leaving my voice box was strained as I had to raise my voice all night to be heard. Heaven knows what the noise level was like in the centre of the restaurant!
This is the huge downfall and the main reason not to return. The food, which is a little expensive was very good from the hot bread and butter to the fabulous scallop entree. The lobster and fish dishes for the main were good and the sides of chips and salads were generous. The wine list was fine and I particularly loved the number of wines available by the glass.
Service was a little pushy at the start. They obviously wanted to get our orders into the kitchen, however, it was attentive and efficient. The drink service, however, was very slow. No one offered us a second drink and we had to summon the waiter each time as our glasses stood empty for 15 minutes. We then waited a further 10-15 minutes to get each round of drinks.
Water was not offered and we eventually asked for water. The bill sat on our table for a further 15 minutes as I waited to pay by credit card. I eventually took it to the register to discover no less than 12 wait/bar staff behind the counter area. Some were processing bills but most were standing around. Near this area the staff who had arranged our table at the beginning of the night was sitting down with other staff for his dinner.
I do not begrudge the staff eating after a busy night of service, however, it is a very bad look to be eating in front of customers that are waiting for service and when the restaurant is still half full. Overall food was good enough to go again, however, the noise and some aspects of the service will ensure no repeat business from me.
Came here the other day with a group of 7 for a Birthday. I was very disappointed with the table. I had reserved 8 weeks ahead and we got a table at the window, but 3 of us had to sit with our back to it, while other tables were sideways with views.
The seafood platter was a huge letdown. There was lots of salt and pepper calamari to make it look big, but all the good stuff was lacking quanitity and quality. In fact my husband detected two prawns that were boderline off !
It might be the best view in Cronulla, but by far not the best food anymore ! We were rather disappointed, and that after a total bill of 450$.
