I don't really know about yum cha, but dinner here is excellent. The seafood is very fresh and coooked to perfection. Try XO sauce pippies with fried vercimelli and you'll know why!!Their steam fish is also very fresh, all straight from the tank. You may also want to try their abalone which is steamed by the waiter in front of you in a hot pot and then you can eat both the abalone and drink the soup..delicious! oh, you can also ask for mango and other pudding as dessert instead of what they usually give you :-)

Best Yum Cha on the North Side, their seafood in particular is brilliant. For a Yum Cha place service is good (what do you expect after all!)

I have not been to this restaurant since early this year. The purpose of the review is to let everyone know that if you are looking for great yum cha on the north shore, go to Greenwood Chinese in North Sydney. Fantastic! Do not support this pathetic restaurant. Clearly despite every single review saying the same thing, it will never change. So, take your money elsewhere and enjoy an excellent yum cha meal at Greenwood - great food, service, no waiting (ever!), free parking. By the way, for the cynics, I have absolutely no association with Greenwood Chinese whatsoever!

Have done yum cha on the last two weekends - we loved it. The decor isn't too flash, but great tasty yum cha treats at a reasonable price, we'll be back there.

I live down the road and i have been going there for most of my life. I like the place and i like their Yum Cha but the reason why it is awarded a hat by the Sydney Morning Hearld food guide is anyone's guess. I don't know how a place with service like theirs it is even considered for one.

The other week i said excuse me to a waitress to ask her for something as she walked passed. She held her hand up to me as if to quieten me and continued walking. I understand if she is doing something else but she could simply say 'one moment'.

We were given a prawn rice noodle that wasn't properly steamed and unrevelled when we slid them into our bowls. When we told them it was cold and not cooked. They took the one remaining rice noodle on the plate back in to the kitchen and steamed it. I don't expect good service at Yum Cha but i think SMH is giving them a bit more credit than they deserve. To put Sea Treasure into the same category as Otto, Flying Fish and Lotus is a baffeling and a true insult to places more deserving like aqua dining (who lost their hat this year).

If you can get past the typical poor asian service (I'm Chinese) the food is actually very good. Lobster, peking duck, pipis, coral trout and abalone were very good. Quite expensive, but better than Golden Century. I would happily bring my in-laws to this restaurant (they're asian too!).

A bit disappointed with the food here - some of the dishes weren't quite as good as I'd expect from a well regarded Chinese restaurant. Other than that, the service was good, though the atmosphere was rather hectic.

Had lunch on the 17th June 2005 here. Food was good as expected. Service was not though - they couldn't undertand what was being ordered so ended up bringing multiple dishes we discussed including some we didn't order/want (I don't think it was done on purpose to increase the bill). Worth a try if you are in Crows Nest and need a feed in a hurry!

I work down the road and have been for Yum Cha on many occasions. Comments are pretty spot on about the service being poor but I must say that the Yum Cha is quite tasty. Prawn gow-gees are delicious, along with the salt and pepper squid and prawns. Mango pancakes... don't even get me started! Overall it's an ok place...just don't expect 5 star service.

They have great seafood dishes, the freshest and most delicious out of Sydney Chinese restaurants. The service is only good if you order expensive dishes like abalone because the staff is just too busy. Yumcha atmosphere is like a chinese market, full of people rushing in the aisles and very noisy. But best to go for upstairs seating if that's the case. You can order what you want in advance and get good service.
