Ambience of the place was pure cheese but cheesily enjoyable. Bar people were friendly, crab racing was fun, and there was an eclectic European mix. Up until the point I was ejected by an over zealous bouncer for no reason whatsoever. Be careful standing near the stairs, as this is where they seem to cull the population to make way for the next wave willing to buy more drinks. If I had paid for entry I would be well annoyed but as it is I will just lodge a complaint tomorrow.
This must be the smallest bar in Sydney. It's packed on Monday nights when the whole venue is one giant bar queue. It's plenty of fun for backpackers and those who enjoy rubbing up against others. Not a good pickup joint cause it's incredibly noisy and by the time you can eventually buy someone a drink, their visa will have expired.
The Scubar has bred in me a love for all things foreign! Believe me, if you're looking for a solid time in Sydney head down, all the way down to the Scubar.
A lot smaller than you expect it to be which is a let down. Fell quite squashed when there aren't many people there. Drinks were fairly average but service was quite slow. Only one person on the bar which meant quite long wait. Good specials though on certain nights. Not my first choice again!
The best of a good bunch in my opinion. Every time I went to the Scubar, I had a fabulous time, the staff were brilliant. Monday nights were especially terrific fun but any night of the week was pretty good. It atttracts an eclectic mix of people. If you haven't been there, you must go as soon as possible. I'll be going back definitely.
Came up to Sydney and was fortunate enough to meet a group of people and they led me to the Scubar. I love it's underground setting, it has a catchy name and good atmosphere although I have been to bars in the country that are open longer. I think we were evicted at 3am and this is Saturday night.
Scubar rocks. It's the place where we go to just have fun and take our friends, meet some new ones. The staff are friendly, some nice eye candy, but we have a ball. Hey isn't that what its all about, Chappo and Gareth, what Legends.
