The food in this restaurant is decent, but lets be clear, it's not French. Nothing about this restaurant is French. On arriving, we asked for Kir Royals (a common French cocktail) and none of the wait staff knew what it was. I suggested our waiter go and ask one of the French staff in kitchen, but he said there was nobody French who worked there. We had foie gras for entree (which is French) but tasted nothing like what is supposed to, more like a pate from Coles.
The ambience is okay, but a very much older clientèle. The service was slow, and had to ask a number of times for our sides, that eventually turned up just as we were finishing our steaks. Overall quite disappointing given the price (and that we were paying full price with no vouchers). Nice food, but not French.

Bought the Living Social voucher based on good reviews on Eatability and outstanding photography on the restaurant's own website. Extremely disappointed after dining there last month. Very average ingredients and execution, not enough creativity, flavours were lacking and portions small. At the normal $95 pp it would have been the most outrageous asking price in Sydney, it makes Testuya the best bargain in town. Best part of the meal was the service and wine.

Had almost exactly the same experience as a reviewer below. Booked online for the degustation and then after not receiving a confirmation phone call like it said I would I called to make sure they had our booking. They said yes but when we arrived the waiter told us we hadn't booked and made a big deal embarrassing us infront of other customers and the restaurant wasn't even full. The food was ok but I still left feeling pretty upset by the whole seating thing.

We've dined here on a Friday night using a livingsocial voucher. The voucher entitled us for a 6-course degustation set menu for two.
They started the night very well by accommodating our allergies and changing the amuse bouche for us with a suitable one. The amuse bouche, veggies tart, liver pate and the fish were all great and delicious. I would've scored them 10 out of 10 if they haven't had the unpleasant surprise in the fifth course.
The menu said the fifth course is beef and we were really looking forward to it because we both beef lovers. In the last minute the waiter approached us and said that they have changed the menu and the set menu now comes with the duck breast! We said that we would like to have something else because both of us don't like duck and he replied that this is a set menu and they can't change it! Which is ironic because they just did change it last minute.
We thought it is ok we will give it a try may be they'll change our minds. Unfortunately, they didn't. The duck dish wasn't at all on the same level with the other courses. The garnish was burnt and the duck with the sauce wasn't that good. This really ruined the meal for us because this was the main course and they screwed it up big time! The final course, dessert, was pretty average.
Overall, I wouldn't come back here because I left unsatisfied.

We made the bookings a day before. As we got there, they said they didn't have our booking (we booked online). Strangely, the waiter called their manager and ask Us to speak to their manager on the phone. Cut the long story short, they finally got us a table. Very disappointed with the food, very much less than average. The fruit they used for dessert came from a can. Won't go back there again.

We had a pleasant evening here. We had a meal deal so it was great value.
I thought the cottage was a bit tired and some of the decorations could be updated. The service was fine but nothing I could really comment on as on several occasions we had to ask for drinks.
Each course was stated clearly, and the portion sizes were perfect. The first 2 courses were great but after that the steak was tough, woody asparagus, the desserts were melting and falling apart. So the food was a bit disappointing.

We had a wonderful dining experience here about a month ago with friends who recommended Saveur. The food was delicious, we all enjoyed our meals and thought they were beautifully presented. To be short, we will definitely be back!

An excellent evening at Saveur with a Spreets coupon which served their six-course Saveur (degustation) menu and a complementary bottle of wine (normally $95pp without matching wines or $125 with). Some courses were better than others but the quality of food was overall very high. The tomato soup and dory fillet were the highlight.
Service was faultless, the name of each course was announced at the time of serving (though omission with the desserts) helped recall what was in the six courses. Very warm and cosy ambience in a small converted home with classic North Shore charm.
The Spreets voucher at half price made the value proposition quite high but a full price visit will, unfortunately, depend on the price you're willing to pay for a beautiful evening out. That said, a la carte should prove to be a bit cheaper than the full degustation with mains averaging at high $30.

Had a voucher so the meal was affordable but if we had to pay full price, then pricey would be an understatement. However, you do get what you pay for and the service was faultless. Food was beautifully presented but portions were quite small. However, for the degustation, the portions were passable. Highly recommended.
