I eat frequently at Sauce and have done for some time. The food is consistently awesome and the service is great. My personal favourite is the eye fillet and you can't go past the chocolate brownie. I have recommended Sauce to heaps of people I know (they have all loved it) and will continue to do so.

This place is awesome. I don't know of any other beach side restaurant where you can get such a great meal with friendly service. The steaks are not cheap but considering they cost $15 at the butchers and I then have to try and cook it myself at home most nights I think it is pretty good value.
We started with the calamari and the prawn cocktail (which I read about in good living) which were both as good as I have had, and then I had the rib eye on the bone and my wife the salmon which were both huge portions and cooked to perfection. For dessert we could only only squeeze in a brownie between us.
The staff were friendly even though they were busy but we weren't there to talk to them all night we were there to eat. My only regret is that i didn't try the ribs. They looked huge an amazing. I will be back and I'm telling all my friends.

Never again - Not Recommended. Worst experience ever, the senior staff is extremely rude, verbally aggressive.
Food was also not worth paying for they smother everything in thick black sauce, I ordered oysters Kilpatrick and basically it was a shell and thick black sauce not Kilpatrick at all.
The Portuguese style chicken looked like a meal you could buy at a charcoal chicken shop with chips and coleslaw except with a higher price tag. My husband and I chose this place as it was our anniversary and will never go back, and never recommend to anyone.

A group of eight of us went to Sauce on Saturday night and were all extremely dissapointed. The food and service was average and both food and drinks were extremely overpriced. We ordered bread for the table and the butter was rock hard. The dipping sauce was more (rancid) olive oil than it was balsamic and they hadn't provided any rock salt (like most places do), and a waiter couldn't be found to ask for some. I had to get up and go over to the counter and grab a shaker of (table) salt, only to find that all the salt shakers didn't actually work as they were all clogged with salt. The most dissapointing meal of the night was the calamari entree, which three of our group ordered.
I wish now that I had taken a photo of this dish for other users of this site to see, it was that bad. The ramekin of dipping sauce that came with this 'dish' was bigger than the meal itself (four pieces of calamari on each plate to be exact). At $16 a plate the calamari worked out to be $4 a piece; $48 for 12 pieces of calamari. Outrageous doesn't even begin to describe it. Our mains were average. Steaks, ribs, salmon and a grilled haloumi/veggie dish that could have all been done better at your local pub (the newly renovated Strawberry Hills Hotel, Shakspeares and The Porterhouse are good if you're a Surry Hills local), for a quarter of the price. Definitley never going back again!

I went here for a birthday with friends last year and it was so great, that I now take friends there often. The staff are very friendly and efficient and now we are frequent diners there, spoil us more. The owner is lovely, always time for a quick chat and you just can't beat the food here! Ribs, Steaks, Lamb shanks, Pork Bellies with awesome sides is just the start of the menu. You really have to come back again and again to try it all.
The wine selection and cocktail list is great and you can get a coffee with your awesome choice of desserts. I recommend the Banoffee Pie or the Fudge Brownie, if you can fit it in. Bring your appetite.

Amazed to go to Sauce and get prices the same as Sydney's best restaurants. They do not have the view or ambience you expect with the price. Then the food was average. My hubby ordered a medium rare steak and got well done. The oysters had bits of shell in them.
The service is back packers, which is fine, but not what you would expect with the price tag. They aren't attentive, they are taking orders. You wait together seated and they don't look that bothered about you arriving.
The place would be better in summer but on a cooler night is a little drafty.
So, for a better steak at a better price, go somewhere else.

Visiting and eating in a place is all about personal experience and timing. I know there are bad reviews about Sauce but after going there last night on a Scoupon I can honestly say we left saying "Wow, we will be back!"
We were eating at 6:30 and from the moment we got there we were greeted with smiles from the staff and got the best attention all night, maybe if they were super busy this may be different?
The food was tops for a Ribs and Steak place. We had the taster ribs and chicken wings to start, both heavenly. Then the Rib eye and Angus steak for mains - Deeeelicious. Melt in your mouth gorgeous.
The desserts were also super tasty, Choc Brownie and Banoffee Pie. Rich, and we couldn't finish the pie but so yummy. I was stuffed leaving and felt totally satisfied that we had gotten an excellent deal and got top class tucker.
I totally recommend based on my experience.

You would be silly to come here and not eat the Ribs or Steak. The Aged Angus is amazing. If you're not a big meat eater, the chicken from the 'Grill' menue is also delicious. The sticky bourbon sauce is to die for. We have been eating here for a while now and have only ever had one issue, which was sorted out promptly by the great staff and we were compensated with a free dessert. Overall an excellent place to eat.

I have never had a bad experience here, the staff are friendly, social and professional and always seem to be having a good time. Pretty sort of standard fare in Coogee.

We tried Sauce with the benefit of a coupon. For $29, we got 2 entrees, 2 mains and 2 desserts (off a slightly limited menu: no prawns, no full racks, no combos). My feelings were mixed.
The quesadilla was generous and tasty, but the calamari was tough and mediocre. The lamb ribs were melt in your mouth, yet the rump steak was tough and not cooked to order. The chips were soggy. The coleslaw tasted like the pre-prepared salads from the local supermarket. For dessert, the chocolate brownie was to die for, but the crepe was rubbery with bitter berries.
Service was slow, but there were apparently 4 staff off sick, and the remainder seemed to be doing the best they could, and were very polite. The atmosphere was "modern" - noisy and cramped, not quite the fancy, romantic evening out I had expected.
The bill would have come to $144, had it not been for our voucher. Sauce should be grateful for that, as my review would be even more searing if I had paid through the nose for what we ate. My local pub does a better steak, with nicer chips and more sides, for a mere $10. Unfortunately won't be going back in a hurry.
