Fantastic restaurant. Never went for years as they do not display the menu outside. We have been every fortnight since. This restaurant is fusion asian! Therefore they have dishes from all over asia. Excellent food!
I won’t be forgetting this meal in a hurry and I wish it could be for all the right reasons, but unfortunately not. The first sign should have been when we noticed that the menu featured dishes from all over Asia. We found ourselves asking “what type of Asian food do they specialise in here anyway”. Trying to be all things to all people is a difficult task at best and sadly they exceed in none.
The menu featured meals from Thailand, China, Singapore, India, Vietnam, Japan, Indonesia and Sri Lanka! We should have left at this point, but with optimism we ordered. For entree we ordered Thai octopus and it was rubbery. Japanese dumplings were sticky and drowned in sauce. Ok we were still smiling here, as we sipped wine and waited for the main. But the food got worse. We ordered Chinese stir fry beef. It was overcooked and the vegetables were wilted. Soft shell crab was soggy!!!
I certainly will not be back, nor could I recommend this place. I am sorry to be so harsh, it all the above is true. The ambiance is certainly inviting and the service was acceptable, but the food just doesn’t not measure up… sorry.
I attended this venue for a friends birthday gathering. There were 8 of us and the atmosphere upstairs on the balcony was palpable. I ordered the duck as a main and have not tasted a better prepared dish in all my dining experience. The staff were very attentive and considerate catering to every need, whilst promptly removing our finished drinks and offering new ones to be ordered when required. Considering the amount of food that we all ordered the value for money is terrific. A highly recommended venue for anybody who enjoys eastern cuisine at its finest.
We were part of a group booking on Saturday night for eight. Our host asked the owner of the business to bring whatever food he recommended. Consequently, we were able to taste a wide variety of items on the menu. The scallops were very memorable, as was the salt and pepper sea food. Chicken, lamb and beef dishes followed. All were excellent. The service was attentive and the overall experience 8/10. If noise disturbs you, go on a quieter night.
I was tempted to rate food at 8, but after my last experience, I, unfortunately, have to give it a 7. I have been here several times and the food is fantastic. The last time I was here, I was very unimpressed by the food. I felt that the ingredients were not as fresh and the flavours did not compliment each other very well.
It may be a once off, but that is all it takes to put me off for a while. I do like the ambience, it's very inviting and I always find myself having a great night out. There are times where I feel like we're all squished around a tiny table, but it adds a positive rather than a negative effect to the night. Definitely worth a go, hopefully you don't get an 'off' day.
Satasia's been on my to do list for a while and I wasn't disappointed when I finally did it. All dishes were bursting with flavour thanks to the noticeably fresh ingredients used. The hardest part was choosing from their extensive menu which covers most cuisines across Asia. Good stuff.
I had always heard about Satasia but have never had a chance to go. I went for the first time there other night and the food was fantastic. I needed some help with the menu (because there are so many great things) and found the staff really helpful. The snapper with green papaya salad was to die for. I can't wait to go back...
Not sure what all the fuss is about. We had 6 dishes and none of them was better than your average Australian Thai Take-out meal. Nothing special about the restaurant ambience either - it's fairly loud (Sat nite) and has no features that would make it stand out.
Service was efficient but it wouldn't hurt for the staff to put a smile on her face every now and then. Value wise maybe fine for Balmain (dishes ranged from 15 to 22) but there is better value to be had in the inner west.
