I found this place to be a cheap eat in the Newtown/Enmore area but its not a place that should have high expectations of. The food is above average and the place itself inside is nothing special and the food sometimes is a little slow to come out. My friends like this place.
Back before I ever even knew about this website, I had a kebab at this place and it was fine. I recently found this place on eatability and went there as it has a high rating and the mixed plate was recommended by a fair few people. I went there, realised it was the same place I had visited years earlier, ordered the mixed plate which was 20 something dollars, and a few other snacks.
Waited 40 minutes for the mixed plate when there were only 2 other occupied tables in the place and the actual amount of food on the plate was ridiculously small, you would get more in a single kebab for less than half the price. I was not worried the fact this is really just a takeaway place and looks it.
The service was ok, the value was not good, the food was average and the ambience was ok. I haven't tried their pizzas yet, not sure if I will be back. Would I recommend it? No. If you just want a kebab then fine, it would be ok but for a place to sit down and eat their other menu items, way too expensive and overrated.
Not the kind of place that instantly entices you to walk in, but once you've entered will go back again and again. The food is great, clean, fresh and delicious. The service is also very friendly. Highly recommend the Veg lot pizza, the dips and the yummy super-spicy vine leave rolls.
Never judge a book by its cover. The same applies to Sarays. The shops appearance has not changed since day dot. But the food is fantastic. By far the best Turkish food you can buy in Sydney. The family that operates the business are very friendly and the service is fantastic. Everything is fresh and very tasty.
I highly recommend the vege lot pide.
The setting is very basic. We almost turned back at the door when we saw it. However, the food and service were excellent. The dips and the Turkish bread were delicious, as was the Iskender kebab. Highly recommended for food, but don't take anyone you wish to impress.
We had a great Turkish meal, the waiter/staff are very friendly, and the chef made us a special dietary meal. Highly recommended for a quick, fabulous, cheap, healthy filling meal. I also love the mixed dips with Turkish bread,
Fantastic food and super cheap - it is not a flash restaurant but that's not always what you are looking for is it? The service is quick and friendly so the lack of "ambience" really doesn't matter!
This is the perfect place for a quick dinner before a show at the Enmore.
While I definitely echo all of the comments below, this is one of those places that I'm happy to go to if I'm looking for a casual, good eat and happen to be in the area. But I wouldn't go especially out of my way to go there, mainly because it ain't much to look at and it's really pretty basic. No complaints about the food - the varied selection of dips are yummy, and we especially enjoyed the chunky eggplant and the carrot one, and the accompanying fresh Turkish bread is fantastic. Chicken shish was tasty and plentiful - one of these and the mixed dip platter was way too much food for two of us! It's a quick, cheap and cheerful experience; more a prelude to the nights further entertainment rather than being the main event itself.
