First time I went there about a year and half ago it was literally the best service I have received in Sydney. The food is stunning. The ambience is fantastic. The maitre d' at Sake is perceptive and welcoming, without judgement. He basically transformed our night as soon as we walked in the first time.

We returned recently and it was unclear as to who exactly was welcoming us. The first time we arrived and we were basically ushered by the maitre d' to our table was perfect. I did not like having to approach the hostesses who were quite strange and snobby.

Keep it Simple. Thank you Sake!

I went here with my boyfriend last week and the door hostesses completely looked us up and down then stared at my chanel jacket and bag. After clearly trying to evaluate us she tried to make us sit on the bar which was ironic considering she was in a 100% polyester dress one size too small. I guess it was because we are in our early 20s.

When I said we wanted a table she said 'oh we will see'. Once we were given a table the experience was fabulous. It's just the delusional door hostesses that bring it down.

We had an early booking which meant we were spoiled for service, but I'm not complaining. Took a seat at the bench and watched the chef's finish their mise en place, which was impressive.

Great fried pork belly, Kingfish and choc fondant. Everything else was good but not standout. Great ambience, great service and good food. I'll be back.

They might look attractive and trendy, but food and service was the worst I've ever experienced.

Waiters never pay attention to our table and not friendly and helpful at all when they finally came to our table. Sushi was average and other cold dishes must have been kept in fridge or something so not fresh at all. Hot foods were nothing special. We all thought "how they got one hat?" we have much better japanese places in Sydney. Never go there again.

Second I have been here. Hoping it would be a special meal. The service was terrible. Sat at the bar and the waiter was unfriendly and not helpful. Had the kingfish starter, it wasn't fresh. The fried chicken was too salty, the pork belly nothing special. The rolls were Ok but not good value considering the price and better are available elsewhere. The sake is poor. I would recommend the Chef find another brewery. Note of them (had three glasses) were special except fot the price. Not going back.

Thoroughly enjoyed dinner here with my partner. Best sashimi we've ever had, however, the mains were a little underwhelming. Topped off the night with the most amazing chocolate fondant cake and dessert wine, would definitely go back just for that again.

Went there with a few friends and we all agreed that the decor and the ambience of the restaurant was great. Service was acceptable but was a little disappointed that they tried charging us something that came we sent back when it came very late. The waiter has told us that he would take it off the bill. Quality of food was excellent and the presentation was impressive. I love Japanese food and I thought the balance of flavours was well achieved.

Sake has such a lovely ambience. All the dark wood and the open kitchen really add to the vibe of the place. The menu offers a good range without being over fussy and the food is amazing. The staff make you feel special but are not over attentive and are able to give advice on food and wine. Everything we ordered was amazing, especially the halapeno kingfish, the prawn dumplings and the crunchy fried chicken. Amazing meal, including desserts! I would love to go back.

We went to Sake for my birthday but there was little confusion with our booking and we arrived the night before they had us booked! The regular door girls just brushed us off, however, there was one hostess (Ava I think) who obviously had more clout and saw how upset I was. She immediately came up to us and promised to sort it all out, she found a table and constantly came to check that we were happy and being well looked after, which we were. She was amazing and made what could have been a disappointing night unforgettable!

There were four of us, which I would highly recommend, you can order more dishes and get to sample a broader range of the menu, which by the way was everything we expected. Excellent. Our favourites for the night were Kingfish Jalapeno, Scallop Tiradito and the Miso-cream Scallops.

The ambience isn't great if you're looking for something cosy and romantic. Best comparison is that of a shopping centre food court! Loud, crowded and not intimate at all. I'm guessing the private rooms are so maybe book one!

Over all we loved it and had a great night, we will definitely be going back soon.
