Went there for my birthday and also to propose to my fiance. Great service and magnificent location. The food was pricey. My steak was just lukewarm to the touch and rare at the first slice even though I requested medium. The thick-cut fries were, unfortunately, raw in the middle and I should have sent them back instead of just leaving them uneaten.
Disappointing mains, however, the absolute highlight was the dessert, crème brulee with meringue, strawberrys and green pistachios. That has to be one my all time favourite desserts! The crème brulee was still burning on top when they brought it to our table. Very dramatic and delectable.
Great place to go for a special occasion, but make sure they cook your chips right.

Superb location for the New Years Eve. The 9 course degustation menu was excellent. Only the beef was a let down. The matched wines, whilst not quite to the standards of the oenophiles I was dining with, nonetheless complemented the dishes well and the staff were generous with top ups. Better value than somewhere else, despite the higher price tag.

Each time I have been here the food has never disappointed. The king prawns and crab meat is absolutely fantastic, a very well balanced dish with fantastic flavours.
For the price, the rib eye is reasonable but, unfortunately, the steak cannot be cooked blue due to the fat content which is a tad disappointing. The wine list is fantastic and the staff can certainly mix a decent cocktail. An absolutely fantastic spot to be in no matter what weather as the view would have to be one of the best in Sydney.

This was a beautiful experience. The location is awesome what a view, we arrived by ferry and were warmly welcomed and spoiled from the time we came in. It was a quiet night, and the level of service was wonderful, not too intrusive, just right. We had a lovely window table which we enjoyed, we must come during the day. We all enjoyed our menu choices from entree to dessert.
The quality and presentation of our meals was fabulous and we could not fail to try a little of everything. There are many more items we would like to try and will be going back again soon to do so. This place was a treat and it is well worth taking your special occasions there. Fabulous wine list too. Loved it here.

Went for my birthday on Sunday. Apart from lukewarm parsnip soup the rest of the meal was wonderful, creative food done well. The really big disappointment was the hit and miss service... wine not left on table so long waits for glass to be refilled, and left without coffee after a half hour wait for any of the several wait staff to appear. Such a shame when it could be the miost wonderful dining experience.

A friend gave me a dining voucher as an engagement gift for me and my now wife, and we loved it so much we ended up going back with the whole family for a Saturday lunch which was idyllic (and lengthy). Pricey enough that you wouldn't want to dine there every week, but for a quality escape from day-to-day life Sails is it. We had a faultless experience.

Location and views are marvellous, a breath taking view of the harbour.
Service was Ok, not really as quick as could be expected. The tasting menu was fantastic, but with two faults: the duck breast and the lamb were not cooked enough and were a bit tough.

We went here for lunch on a Travelzoo deal which included three courses at $79.00 for two.
The choices we were given were celeriac soup with mushrooms or smoked salmon with red cabbage and a citrus dressing (we had one of each), then fish or a very filling braised brisket of beef with mash and spinach (which we both had) and a set dessert.
However, something had gone wrong with the dessert and they let us order off the regular menu, and we both got creme brulee which was served flaming and accompanied by a little jellied fruit thing with a small meringue (described as pavlova in the menu). A tiny canape and a bread roll each were included.
A glass of white wine was $11.00, and my light beer and cup of coffee were $6.00 each. The setting is spectacular and the food quality is good, but it is very pricey to order off the a la carte menu.

I went here for my 7th year anniversary. When making the booking, I asked for a table with a nice view. We were put in the corner, closest table to the dock. This blocked the view of the harbour bridge, but still had a nice view Luna Park. Either way, you have a pretty good view, no matter which table you end up on.
The ambience is like no other I've been to before. It's serene, just on the water and candle light truly makes for a romantic dinner. It's actually a little too dim for eating in. I don't have any problems with my eyesight, but mini me wears glasses and I think she was having a little difficulty as we decided to bring her for the experience.
The only down points of the evening were that the food was quite salty. We ordered the lamb shoulder, which came with a side of vegetables and mash. All were a little salty. We had to get to the middle of the lamb and take of the outsides to get the good unadultered taste of lamb. This also applied to my entree of the seared scallops. I think the flavours would have been perfect if they were a little more careful with their seasoning. I tried the duck and the lentils (my first time eating lentils this way) and fell in love with it.
They could have been a little more generous with the sauce as it came up a little dry. The plate only had about 30 mls of sauce spread across it. All food was presented beautifully. We also got Arancini balls as a started, which I thought was quite nice.
Another down point is that they seem to believe that 2 staff was enough for the night. The restaurant was full and it would have been nice to see just one more person front of house and helping. I recall constantly looking around for someone to serve us more water/drinks. Could have had some coffee but after waiting for service and not being noticed, I decided it was just better to leave.
As an Entertainment book holder, we walked away paying about $170 as we had a discount. I would gladly come back if they held back on the salt, but overall it was a pleasant experience.

This restaurant is my perfect restaurant, the best food, we always have the degustation with the wines, the views are to die for, day and night and the waiters are the best. This is not a cheap restaurant, but the value is excellent. Thank you Sails.
