Sailors Thai is a good restaurant. The food is not quite as good as Spice I am in Darlo, in my opinion, but it is definitely worth a visit. Staff are accommodating and the place is attractive.

It is the best thai in Sydney without a doubt. It's not too expensive, the portions perfectly sized and the balance of flavours spot on. It even does takeway. The decor is pretty lovely too and on a warm night it's open onto the street. Perfect for a date or a night out with friends. I love it.

What's happened to Sailors Thai Potts Point? I used to eat here all the time and now after a six month break, I come back to find things have changed, for the worse.
I ordered takeaway tonight and was really disappointed when I got it home. The menu change which now has prawn on the betel leaves is not a change for the better. The prawn was beyond cooked and rubbery in texture. The taste? Not quite fresh.
I ordered the Grilled Marinated Beef. When I got it home it was literally just strips of beef in a container. If they know that's what the dish is, you'd think they would suggest you get some rice to go with it. I literally had a plate of beef for dinner (!!!).
I called to tell them I wasn't as happy as I usually am but didn't really get the feeling they particularly cared. The person on the other end of the phone felt the need to lie to me and tell me he had suggested steam rice. I'm mid 30s, so I'm not having a pensioner moment nor hard of hearing.
I often see the restaurant empty as I pass it these days. Seems I'm one of the last people in Potts Point to work out it's no longer good. Damn it was very good once.

Gosh we had a good meal here. We started with the betel leaves and the sausage which was quite unusual but gorgeous. The crunchy watercress with prawns has haunted me since and I've booked a table for my family to come back next week. The taste exploded in my mouth! I literally cannot stop thinking about this meal - it's as close to perfection as a dish can be.
We had a St Valentine's meal on a rainy Saturday night and it was just lovely, not too busy and not too quiet. Washed down with a lovely clean chardonnay. Service sufficient. Highly recommended.

Started going to Sailors Thai when it was first started as 'Oy'. I agree with what Terry Durack said recently in SMH - '...Sure enough, move from Zinc to Fratelli Paradiso to Opium Den to Busshari to Sailors Thai and it is one progressive journey into the dark side. The seating is casual and smart, those who want a little bit of back support need to ask for tables at the back.
The menu is full of very tempting mouth-watering dishes. We always have the betel leaf w/grilled prawn, roasted coconut, chilli, lime, ginger and peanuts w/caramel sauce, it is so freshly made and it opens your appetite for more indulgence on the main courses. We had deep fry soft shell crabs and the aromatic curry of chicken with cucumber relish, the soft shell crabs are still very 'meaty' after deep fried and the chicken is on the sweat side, both are not spicy at all, they are espeically good if you are not into heavy-style Asian food.
The service is prompt, the maitre de is always very warm in welcoming all the guests. This place can get really crowded at times if you sit at the back and noise level can be an issue for someone who wants a romantic candle-lit dinner if there are big groups in the restaurant. Nonetheless, we like it more and more and enjoy every dinner we had at Sailors Thai.

Yum! Great Thai, the Betel Leaf entree is not to be missed. Delicious fresh Thai food, rather than the sickly saucy Thai which is so often served in Sydney. There was a group of 6, so we were able to try a good range of dishes, all of them were pretty much perfect, except for the Green Curry which I found to be a tiny bit salty, however, it was a favourite for my husband, so I guess it comes down to personal taste in the end.
The only thing which wasn't outstanding was the service, at times I struggled to get the waiters attention, however, the food was so good that it didn't worry me too much. The wine list is great with tasty and affordable wines from various regions. Am looking forward to going back.
