I had a Vietnamese beef noodle (Pho Bo) and it was average. Good for the Inner West as there isn't much competition. Not much ambience cause it's just a quick eat in or takeaway place. Service wasn't with a smile and for what you get isn't exactly on the cheap side. I'll go back cause it's local for me. Will try other food next time to see if it's better.
Restaurant is basically a takeaway with a few tables. Overall the food we had was fresh, tasty and great value. However, there is one exception: I do not recommend the Vietnamese Prawn Rolls which consisted mostly of rice vermicelli and very little prawn.
Service was non existent really and we had to leave our table in order to request water, soft drinks and at the conclusion of our meal, the bill. Further it would help if the waitress could manage a smile or at the very least be pleasant. Saigon Express is better suited to those seeking a good value takeaway, people seeking to have a nice night out should look elsewhere.
Being Viet and living down the road from this place, I decided to try it out. I'd have to say the food here is mediocre and a bit westernised so not authentic. There are much better Viet restaurants a couple of minutes drive down. Would not go back.
It's very simple ... don't come here for the ambience or the service as there is none. However, if you like authentic Viet food and don't mind having it take away then go for your life. The food is very good and the price is great. Some mains under $10. A great place to stop on the way home if you don't feel like cooking. Find somewhere else for Valentine's day though.
I love the place so much, the food is great! they make the best PHO's! I go to Saigon Express once every two weeks sometimes more and the food is always the best I crave without it HAHAH but however, I have to say the service is shocking. Dont get me wrong the food is made quick but the the ladies that work there can be so rude. I took my aunty here because I raved about it to her, she asked one of the ladies for more water and the response she got but was so cold and rude, it made me feel uncomfortable.
But I still highly recommend this place, the great food is worth putting up with the rude service! which although got me angry because I am regular customer but doesn't seem to matter to them.
This place is more like a take away with tables. The menu is a bit limited compared to most restaurants. The food is promptly served and the portion size is good and the food is great, what is on the menu is well prepared. I have been to several of these cheap and cheerful places and this is one of the better ones. Decor wise it’s not too bad.
The truth is the ambience is the only draw back, small shop turned into a eat in and take away. I love South East Asian food and nothing comes close to the food here, one of my colleagues stated that it has ruined every other place for him. I do not know how they can get the meals tasting so fresh and tasty but they do. The servings are generous and pricing even more generous. It's the sort of place that you can eat at once a week and not feel guilty.
Great food, although can be quite busy. This is a family run restarant, and is very popular with the locals. All of my friends love this place. It's very clean for a Viet restarant, great pho and fresh rolls.
Excellent food, always fresh and fast and very delicious! The flavours are exciting and varied. The menu is quite simple, but what is there is consistently great. The restaurant is clean and very casual and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Great option if you are looking for take away because they open late for the bulk of the week.
